The devasting earthquakes that struck Türkiye and Syria on February 6 have wrought destruction across the region, causing widespread damage and tens of thousands of fatalities. The death toll has surpassed 46,000 and more than 84,000 buildings have collapsed, are damaged or require immediate demolition, leaving more than a million people homeless and in need of safe shelter, food, drinking water, hygiene products and warm clothing.

As the countries continue to grapple with the aftermath, funding is urgently needed to support organisations that provide humanitarian aid to affected communities and survivors.

In an effort to raise these funds, executive chef Franckelie Laloum of Louise will host a charity dinner on Monday, February 27 with six other Hong Kong chefs: Vicky Lau of Tate Dining Room, Manav Tuli of Chaat, Maxime Gilbert of Écriture, Antimo Maria Merone of Estro, Antonio Oviedo of Agora, and Richard Ekkebus of Amber. Each of the seven chefs will contribute one course in the exclusive seven-course dinner priced at HK$4,888 (+10%) per guest with optional wine pairing.

100 per cent of the proceeds from the dinner will go towards the AFAD association, Türkiye's governmental disaster management agency, to help with ongoing rescue efforts. A silent auction will also take place during the evening to raise additional funds for this urgent cause. Prizes include exclusive chef's tables, dining experiences in Hong Kong and Singapore, spa treatments, hotel stays and more.

“We are confident that Türkiye will overcome this disaster,” says Peyami Kalyoncu, Consul General of Türkiye in Hong Kong. “We are determined to provide safe, comfortable shelter and temporary housing to the millions affected by the earthquakes as soon as possible. Our target is to build new homes and cities with the highest standards within one year. We are grateful to the Hong Kong people ... the funds raised at this event will help alleviate the pain of those who are most affected by the earthquakes.”
