Chaat

Indian street food elevated into something vibrant and unexpectedly refined

At Chaat, the flavours of India’s streets arrive dressed for a much grander stage. The restaurant, located inside Rosewood Hong Kong, takes the snacks and regional dishes found across the subcontinent and gives them a level of polish rarely associated with chaat stalls. The result is Indian food that feels lively and expressive without losing its sense of fun. Led by chef Gaurav Kuthari, the menu roams widely across India, pulling from different regions and traditions rather than settling on a single style. Plates arrive layered with spice, sweetness and acidity—the sort of bold contrasts that define Indian street food, but here handled with greater finesse. The room itself contributes to the energy. With sweeping harbour views and a lively atmosphere, the restaurant feels closer to a celebration than a formal tasting menu experience. Staff happily guide diners through the complexity of the dishes, explaining the regional inspirations behind them.

Tatler Tip

The drinks list is worth exploring. Chaat’s cocktails lean heavily on Indian spice and pantry ingredients, so they echo the flavours on the plate rather than competing with them.

Must Try

  • Baked samosa
  • Kerala lobster curry
