Madrid-born chef and Tatler Dining rising star, Antonio Oviedo, is bringing contemporary Spanish tasting menus to Tai Kwun
Spanish cuisine has had a foothold in Hong Kong for many years, but Agora is the first to elevate it to the same heights of haute cuisine as you would find in Madrid or Barcelona. Through the two tasting menus, chef Antonio Oviedo crafts an ode to the terroir of the Iberian peninsula, featuring rarely seen ingredients such as hake from the coast of the Basque country, percebes from Costa da Morte, and Rubia Gallega beef from Galicia. Flavours are fresh and focused on uplifting the ingredients, with the occasional reinvention of Spanish classics like the paella. The interior, which repurposes a former prison vault, is as atmospheric as they come.
Tatler Tip
The eight-person chef’s counter provides the best vantage point over the action, although the hard-to-move high chairs may leave some diners looking enviously at the low tables to the side.
