Two of Korea’s most celebrated chefs cooked together for the first time at an exclusive dinner celebrating the launch of LG Electronics’ built-in kitchen collection, presenting an eight-course menu that reflected Korean precision and craftsmanship
On October 1, LG Electronics brought together Son Jong-won, breakout star of Culinary Class Wars 2 and executive chef of Seoul’s one-Michelin-starred Eatanic Garden and L’Amant Secret, and Sun Kim, chef-owner of Singapore’s two-Michelin-starred Meta, for an intimate four-hands dinner that put modern Korean cuisine and thoughtful kitchen design in focus.
Before the dinner began, guests gathered in Meta’s private dining room for an introduction to LG Electronics’ newly launched built-in kitchen collection. Designed for contemporary homes where cooking and entertaining go hand in hand, the range combines connected appliances, intuitive technology and considered design to bring greater precision and convenience to everyday cooking.

At the heart of the collection is the LG Induction Hob, which delivers up to 7.4kW of power across four cooking zones, including two Flex Zones. Its hob hood activation function lets the hood operate in tandem with the hob, while the LG Built-In Oven offers 42 Auto Cook programmes, full steam technology and a 4.3-inch LCD touchscreen for greater control and versatility.
The LG Hood complements the setup with three suction levels to remove unwanted odours, a boost function and two washable grease filters. For added flexibility, the LG Microwave Oven combines smart inverter technology, infrared heating and healthy fry functionality. Completing the collection is the LG InstaView Door-in-Door Refrigerator, equipped with linear cooling and an automatic ice maker.

At the dinner, the two chefs translated their respective approaches to Korean cuisine into an eight-course menu. Familiar ingredients and traditional flavours were reinterpreted through contemporary techniques, beginning with a series of finely composed snacks: scallop tart with caviar and aged jang; sesame leaf bugak with prawn jang, sweet shrimp and wild sesame seeds; and squid rice with seaweed chojang and kimchi.
Both chefs also brought signature dishes to the table. Kim presented abalone with kamtae, lily bulb and juk, a composition that reflected his considered approach to Korean ingredients. Son, meanwhile, reimagined samgyetang, the traditional Korean ginseng chicken soup, in a drier preparation with aged kimchi and double-boiled samgyetang broth served on the side.
Another highlight was Son’s bibimbap, a contemporary interpretation of the classic rice dish that brought together 19 ingredients. It was served alongside Hanwoo beef and pine mushroom soup, before the meal concluded with a Mont Blanc of parsnip, chestnut and rum.
Beyond the exchange between two accomplished chefs, the dinner offered a closer look at how technology can support the creativity and precision of contemporary cooking. By pairing LG Electronics’ built-in kitchen collection with a menu rooted in Korean culinary tradition, the showcase brought together the practical demands of the modern home kitchen and the craft of fine dining.
