We invited our Tatler friends to taste the Blue Label in a way they have never experienced before
Johnnie Walker Blue Label is known for its remarkable depth of flavour, and this was showcased at the immersive pop-up experience at Mandala Club from December 9 to 13. We invited our Tatler friends to preview the exclusive event, which commenced with delicious cocktails infused with Blue Label. The tipples were a good introduction to the Scotch whisky’s complex flavours, which were further elaborated in an intimate session held at the tasting room equipped with surrounding screens.
Brand ambassador Kenneth Chien welcomed the guests with an introduction about the blend, crafted with malt and grain whiskies from Scotland. These aren’t your ordinary new make spirit, though, as only one out of 10,000 casks in Johnnie Walker’s more than 10 million whisky reserves has the desired characteristics that fit the Blue Label profile.
Before the tasting session, our guests were presented with a bespoke fragrance from artisanal perfumer, Antonio Gardoni, and master blender Emma Walker. It teased the nose with overlapping notes of vanilla, tonka beans, and iris. “These represent Blue Label's layers of flavours,” shares Chien, which started from the first nose down to the last sip.
As soon as the lights were turned off, the surrounding screens portrayed blue waves that showcased the layers of flavours imbibers experience when they taste the Blue Label. Culminating the tasting session, guests were invited to put on their headphones and listen to the 3D soundscape while they savoured their whisky. It was a memorable experience, shared the guests, who agreed that they were able to appreciate the Blue Label’s depth of flavour with their senses heightened.
