With its Sai Kung location opening in 2020, Kachimushi is a welcome addition to Yuen Long’s up-and-coming dining scene. Tucked away on a quiet street in the 'hood, the café has a neutral palette—think white walls, clean lines and wooden fixtures—with tasty treats to offer guests a memorable café experience.

Expect a solid selection of drinks, including pour-overs, espresso-based classic coffees and lattes, alongside hearty food offerings such as salads and savoury toasts. If you’re in the mood for something sweet, they also offer a range of freshly made pancakes.

2. Goof

Complete with a minimalist wooden design that caters to the Instagram crowd, Goof doesn’t just offer beautiful backdrops for your snaps, but also serves up delicious snacks and top-notch coffees to please the caffeine connoisseur in you.

Order from its extensive drink menu featuring everything from classic coffees to teas and soda—and pair your brew with their signature duo cheese honey garlic panini, roasted cheesy corn ribs, or the tempura soft shell crab and scrambled egg toast for a truly indulgent meal.

3. Hidden Figures

When we heard the news that the team behind the now-closed coffee joint OWLS Coffee in Lai Chi Kok was opening a new café in Sheung Wan, we knew it was going to be good. Boasting a team of expert baristas, all the drinks here are executed with dedication and prepared with carefully selected beans that will excite even the most discerning palate.

Their beverages are of top quality, but it’s also worth paying attention to its food offerings. Must-try items include Sriracha hot dog, mala BBQ pork lotus leaf bun, as well as caramelised banana pancakes.

4. Tera Pancake Café

Exuding Japanese-style minimalism with its simple, cosy interiors, this new café is helmed by a Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef, so guests can look forward to delicious offerings prepared with quality ingredients and refined recipes.

The energy here is focused on the souffle pancakes, which are all beautifully presented and freshly served in an innovative array of flavours, such as vanilla strawberry, yuzu matcha, blueberry lemon and hojicha hazelnut. Their baked goods are also worth digging into, such as madeleines with lemon curd, homemade lemon tart and mango coconut pandan parfait.

5. Not Just Coffee

Here's another Instagrammable spot to add to your café-hopping checklist. Not Just Coffee’s new branch in Sai Ying Pun is unmissable, and just like its name suggests, this lovely café serves more than just excellent coffee—there’s delicious Japanese and Western dishes, exquisite desserts, refreshing teas and sodas, too.

Highlights of the food menu include crab linguine, lobster bisque with avocado prawn Inaniwa udon, eel and scrambled egg burger, as well as sea-salted caramel chicken wings—all served with gorgeous interiors featuring botanicals and wooden fixtures as your backdrop.

6. Be Leaf

Dreaming of a tropical getaway? Pay a visit to this new pet-friendly café hidden in Kwun Tong’s maze of industrial buildings. Stepping inside Be Leaf, guests will feel immediately transported to the exotic islands of Bali thanks to the Instagrammable interiors featuring bamboo furniture and lush greenery. The café also serves up an enticing international mix of cuisine that makes for a memorable dining experience.

Don’t miss their hearty brunch offerings such as the signature 16-hour slow-cooked duck confit with Thai crab rice cake, and pork knuckle with black pepper spaghetti. 7. The Porter

Ahead of the brand’s new store opening at Taikoo Place, lifestyle coffee brand The Porter has unveiled a limited-time pop-up installation at the anticipated new space. Featuring an Instagrammable backdrop of white clouds against a blue sky, the pop-up has a tranquil setting imbued with relaxed vibes, where guests are welcome to sample quality coffee, specialty beverages and sweet treats from popular bakeries including Cookie DPT and Moono.

The pop-up is open from now until the opening of the new store in late November.

8. Half & Half

If you like coffee and chocolate, then you’re going to love Half & Half’s drinks offerings. This new spot in Sai Ying Pun was opened just in time for the holidays to serve all your caffeine needs this winter.

Fight off the cold spell by sipping on a decadently rich hot chocolate using Brazil 74% dark chocolate from Hong Kong-based bean-to-bar brand, Slok Chocolate. If you’re looking for a less sugary version, their Choconade, featuring a unique blend of India 70% chocolate, honey lemon slices and soda water, is sure to satisfy.

Half & Half also features delicious pastries supplied by local online bakery Heijau Patisserie, including the caramelised nut-flavoured Kennedier dacquoise, and the 1009 dacquoise made with olive lemon curd and paprika meringue. Don’t leave without trying the freshly baked banana bread, too!

9. Coff

This Wan Chai newcomer serves fine cups of coffee and some excellent croffles—a cross between croissants and waffles. Tucked away from crowded streets in the trendy Starstreet Precinct, Coff is relatively small but full of delicious surprises waiting to be discovered.

On the menu, guests will find a decent range of coffees and lattes, which are best enjoyed with their croffles topped with homemade ice cream. Four unique flavours of ice cream are currently offered here, including mascarpone cheese, mixed berries, early grey and hazelnut chocolate.

10. NOC Coffee

This much-loved brand needs no introduction. Renowned across the city for exceptionally good coffees crafted with fresh, locally roasted beans, NOC Coffee has been drawing in crowds for an elevated café experience. Recently, they’ve expanded to a new branch in Tsim Sha Tsui, which joins a roster of six locations around town. Here, guests can expect a menu featuring the same delicious coffees and more impressive food options offered in a stylish setting that resembles an airport lounge.

Their homemade pasta, toasts and brunch dishes—including the all-day breakfast and eggs Benedict—are not to be missed. While you’re there, don’t forget to order the branch-exclusive new dessert, No.18 Panna Cotta, to complement your meal.

11. Tsuzuku

Tsuzuku, which means “to be continued” in Japanese, is a hidden oasis of peace nestled amidst the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay, providing an elegant place for guests to take a pause and enjoy some much-needed respite from city life.

Come here hungry to enjoy their signature toasts featuring toppings such as avocado crab egg salad, and soft shell crab with pickled radish, and complement your food with a cup of joe. If you’re not a coffee person, opt for their decaf lattes and chocolates which are all equally amazing. They also offer a tempting selection of desserts such as cheesecake banana bread, cinnamon apple French toast and Liege waffle with vanilla ice cream that we highly recommend.
