Our picks for the celebrity-hosted food and cooking programmes to add to your watch list

Over the last few years, we've seen the widely-loved additions of celebrity-hosted cooking and food shows being added to our Netflix accounts and other viewing platforms. Cooking and foodie knowledge aside, they're a great way to tap into the personalities of some of our favourite stars, giving us another look at their personas outside of the characters they're known for.

Here are some shows that we think you'll enjoy too.

1. The Chef Show

The Chef Show sees two powerhouses in their respective industries join forces to create one of the most popular food shows today. Best known for his major role in the universally loved Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jon Favreau ventures into his love for food together with Roy Choi, a trailblazer in the gourmet food truck movement, on the show.

It all started with Choi taking Favreau under his wings as part of his training for the movie Chef and eventually building a bond strong enough to host a show together, where the two travel and explore foods together with other friends from their industries such as the Avengers' Gwyneth Paltrow, Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr., and Wolfgang Puck.

2. Cooking With Paris

Fifteen years after The Simple Life with Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton returns to her reality TV roots with her very own Netflix cooking show, Cooking With Paris. The show is nostalgic and incredibly entertaining as she channels her persona as the clueless heiress who famously said, "If someone ever asks you to do something for them, do it really bad so you never have to do it again."

The format of the show sees her inviting a slew of famous—or rather, infamous—faces to join her on her culinary journey at her Beverly Hills mansion, including Kim Kardashian, Lele Pons, and Demi Lovato. Each episode is more outrageous than the last as she navigates her own kitchen in impeccable designer outfits, pulling out spatulas studded with Swarovski crystals and sprinkling dishes with unhealthy amounts of edible glitter.

In this series, she invites us into her home and shares a glimpse into her everyday life with friends and family as she learns how to cook dishes from world-renowned chefs such as Curtis Stone, José Andrés, Jamie Oliver and Roy Choi.

For beginners in the kitchen, Selena + Chef is a great watch to pick up cooking tips, from how to position the hand in a 'claw' when chopping vegetables to the best way to break a coconut. And, of course, with a star like Gomez, you can also expect cameos from her fellow celebrity friends, including Taylor Swift, Ayesha Curry, and more.

4. Somebody Feed Phil

Phil Rosenthal is the chipper and hilarious former producer of the classic sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond and he is now in front of the camera with his food and travel Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil. Perfect for a rainy day in or a chill pre-bedtime Netflix session, the show follows the funnyman to major cities around the globe, where he is introduced to local cuisine, meets restaurateurs of iconic eateries, and sometimes even teams up with fellow comedian friends for a meal together.

In each episode, Rosenthal makes a Skype or Zoom call to a loved one (his parents in season 1-4, other comedians and celebrities, including Ray Romano and Brad Garrett, in season 5-present), which many consider to be the best part of the show. Rosenthal also helps to tell the stories of local people, such as North Korean defector Jessie Kim in the Seoul episode.

At the end of every episode, he brings together all the featured guests to bond and laugh over a grand meal. Some familiar names that have made appearances on the show include Massimo Bottura, Eric Nam, and Al Roker.
