Don’t let its outer balloon-like structure fool you—the Roche Bobois Bubble sofa by Sacha Lakic is immensely comfortable and plush, with its seats cocooning you as you sink into it. The playful structure brings to mind a cloud of bubbles, reflecting the French company’s intention to design a pleasing piece that is soothing to the eye and the body.
The Bubble sofa also has a serious presence and style. Boasting a sculptural-like form, it’s a popular piece amongst designers, celebrities, and even TV shows. A powder blue version can be found in the abode of Blackpink’s Jennie, while actor Robert Downey Jr. has the five-seat sofa in a custom colourway selected for the living room of his Malibu home.

More than just a piece of furniture, the Bubble sofa is an equilibrium between design, innovation, and function. The brainchild of French designer Sacha Lakic, the sofa displays his expertise and fascination for fast luxury cars and motorbikes with its unadorned sculptural quality and bold dynamism.
The sofa’s rounded form is entirely handmade by expert artisans. Lakic expressed his passion for cutting-edge technology through Roche Bobois’ notable manufacturing capabilities, where craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and customisation has always been part of the company’s DNA. Curvy and voluptuous, the sofa is entirely padded with its structure crafted from solid fir wood, pine plywood and engineered composite wood.

The complex creation of the sofa required the development of a unique stretch fabric. Named the Techno fabric, the exclusive textile is designed for complex shapes—especially the round form and curved edges of the Bubble sofa. The fabric is composed mainly of wool on a polyester base, which is made on a specific loom to allow for the fine mesh design.
Its honeycomb structure delivers lightness to the overall design, whilst also adding elasticity and the ability to resist deformations in order to maintain its shape. The result is a special upholstery that is not only enduring, but also exudes comfort with its soft tactile appeal.
As per most Roche Bobois designs, the Bubble sofa is available in an extensive range of colours and seat options. In Singapore, the sofa retails at the local Roche Bobois showroom. A deft marriage of Lakic’s creativity and Roche Bobois’ well-researched craftsmanship, the sofa will bring a sense of softness and sensuality into the home.
