And with daytime dining making a triumphant comeback, we’ve been hunting for the best restaurants to visit for lunch in Hong Kong. Following our previous Wan Chai lunch spots roundup, we’re moving onto Central—a charming neighbourhood that’s filled with a vibrant art scene, hipster hangouts and many other fascinating places.

1. Caprice

Elegant chandeliers, posh furnishings and impeccable service... Caprice at Four Seasons Hong Kong offers the perfect setting for power lunches with a French flavour. Full of fresh ingredients and taste, the set lunch here (starting from HK$808 per person) is a boon to diners, which features a wide selection of appetisers, main dishes and desserts to choose from. 2. MO Bar

Conveniently located at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, MO Bar is always a fail-safe choice for those looking to discuss business over great food in elegant settings. With two (HK$358 per person) or three courses (HK$398 per person), you can enjoy a starter or soup, and feast on one of their signature main dishes such as Hainan chicken rice, Singaporean laksa, and flat iron steak. For dessert, their yuzu meringue pie and baked cheesecake are must-tries.

3. Zuma

Famed for its relaxing vibes, stylish interiors and top-notch Japanese eats, it’s no wonder Zuma has been the office crowd’s favourite lunch spot in Central since its launch. It has a decent lunch menu (HK$390 per person) which includes your choice of two starters and one main dish, with a plethora of sushi rolls, sashimi and grilled meats on offer.

And if you’re looking to impress a client, their Daikoku tasting lunch menu (HK$780 per person) is a great deal for the quality, which features a premium chef’s selection of a la carte and seasonal dishes, accompanied by delicious desserts and refreshing cocktails.

4. The Chairman

Whether you’re looking to discuss business or simply want to celebrate achievements with your colleagues, The Chairman is the ideal place to be. Known for its consistently well-executed Cantonese fare with a strong focus on highlighting the natural flavours and freshness of ingredients, the restaurant’s executive lunch set is a must-try.

Available to order for three courses (HK$328 per person) or four courses (HK$348 per person), the menu offers a tempting selection of appetisers, soups, mains and desserts to choose from. It can be dizzying for first-timers deciding what to try from their extensive menu, but we can’t recommend the steamed fresh flower crab in aged huadiao wine and chicken oil, and beef briskets in pepper beef broth enough.

5. Musubi Hiro

Musubi Hiro is saving you from the blight of the desk salad doldrums with its fantastically valued lunch sets. Their new three-course menu (HK$148 per person) is packed with lip-smacking bowls, omakase-style starters, delicious soups and complimentary free-flow drinks that are guaranteed to satisfy your hungry stomach.

6. Little Bao

Treat yourself during your work break and head to Little Bao for some good food that will make you forget all the woes of the work week. The Happy 2Gether set (HK$168 per person) here is seriously good value, offering two diners a choice of four bites and sharing plates, a choice of Little Bao’s famous buns, and a sweet ice cream bun.

And if you’re eating alone, worry not. The restaurant also offers a Flying Solo menu (HK$158 per person) that’s great for solo dining, where guests will be treated to a starter and a main dish of savoury buns, with substantial add-ons including dessert and drinks available. Their Rice Bowl Combo (HK$158 per person) is also worth a try if you’re craving carbs.

7. Pici

This much-loved pasta bar needs no introduction. With a focus on fresh ingredients and straightforward recipes, Pici is the place to dine if you’re craving carbs and delicious Italian comfort food. The restaurant’s lunch menu changes regularly to entice diners with its filling dishes, but you can be sure to find staples including authentic Italian starters and pastas.

Their latest menu (HK$158 per person) gives you a choice of starter such as cold cuts, burrata cheese, or beef carpaccio, followed by a main pasta dish such as tagliolini with fresh shaved black truffle, and lasagna, and rounded off with a dessert, tiramisu or panna cotta for a truly indulgent meal. 8. Morty's

11. Cornerstone

Located in the heart of Soho, Michelin-starred Cornerstone is the playground of Shane Osborn—a pillar of Hong Kong’s community of culinary masters, who’s known for his participation in Netflix’s global culinary competition, The Final Table in 2018. 

Their seasonally driven lunch menu changes frequently but diners can always look forward to modern European cuisine made with fresh, premium ingredients. Designed for two persons (HK$688 per set), the menu offers two starters and two mains where you can start your meal with Japanese eggs benedict or beef tartare tartine, and feast on satisfying dishes including handmade spaghetti, and grilled Australian octopus. The delicious mains then continue into the dessert course with lemon posset, banana cake and artisanal cheese with walnut bread on offer.

12. Kinship

Kinship is known for serving up hearty Western plates in a casual setting, and we think its lunch set is the perfect mid-week treat. With two or three courses (HK$198 and HK$238 per person respectively), guests can nibble on starters like beef tartare, torched scallops or roasted cauliflower, and satisfying mains such as fresh peas and lemon risotto, freshwater bass, mussel and white sopressini, or Okinawa pork belly. To finish, check out their delicious desserts including the Hong Kong iced lemon tea sorbet with vanilla cream, and the Mr. Whippy ice cream with honeyed strawberries.

Located on lively Peel Street, The Pizza Project is a proven crowd-pleaser thanks to its quality pizzas at wallet-friendly prices. A perennial lunchtime favourite, locals from across the city flock to Check-In Taipei for its dependable and scrumptious Taiwanese fare. For lunch, the bistro serves up an extensive menu of noodles and rice bowls—their signature items including crispy chicken rice and beef noodles are must-tries. If you’re feeling peckish, their snacks such as deep-fried squid balls and sesame okra salad are unbeatable. Of course, your meal wouldn't be complete without a cup of classic bubble tea.
