This is the first time the septet has been nominated for the prestigious award

The 2021 AMA nomination list was released this week on October 28 and BTS was nominated in the Artist of The Year, Favorite Duo or Group and Favorite Pop Song categories.

This is the first time that the group has been nominated for the Artist of The Year award which is determined by fans who will vote for their favourite artist. The septet is going up against music heavyweights such as Ariana Grande, Drake, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd for this award.

For the Favourite Duo or Group award, BTS is up against AJR, Glass Animals, Maroon 5, and Silk Sonic which comprises Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak.

For the Favorite Pop Song award, BTS’s hit song, Butter, is competing against Levitating by Dua Lipa and Driver’s License by Olivia Rodrigo. Rodrigo herself has seven nominations which is the highest number out of all the artists in the running at the AMAs.

There are certainly high expectations being put on the Korean group who have won at least one award at every AMA since 2018. They have also won the Favorite Social Artist award for three straight years as well as two Favorite Duo or Group prizes in a row.

The 2021 edition of the AMAs will be taking place on November 21 so stay tuned to find out if our favourite K-pop artists win big.
