The virtual concert will be livestreamed on Weverse on October 24

Like many artists, BTS has also had to cancel many of their live concerts and shows as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this week, the K-pop superstars announced to their fans, also known as Army, that they will be livestreaming a virtual concert called BTS Permission to Dance On Stage on October 24.

The boy band announced their new event in a YouTube video where they said: “We’re going to meet Army through online streaming... our stage is where you are. Please enjoy the concert with us that day.”

The concert will be live-streamed on Weverse, the social media platform that is operated by BTS’ management firm Hybe Entertainment.

While no other details were provided, a poster decorated with the colours of their chart-topping song, Butter, indicated that the timing of the concert will be 6:30 p.m. (Korea time) on October 24.

This will be BTS’ first concert in nearly a year. The last concert the group did was their virtual BTS Map of the Soul On:e show which happened in October 2020.

The show was viewed in 191 countries and made heavy use of augmented reality that allowed the famous septet to interact with their fans through the Army on Air fan event.

The virtual BTS Map of the Soul On:e event followed the devastating news that the group would have to postpone their in-person BTS Map of the Soul Tour which was due to take place in April 2020.

Fans have undoubtedly missed watching the Bangtan boys in person but this virtual concert comes pretty close to the real thing and most of us are happy to settle for a livestream during these challenging times.
