The sensational album outsold all 99 other albums on South Korea's Gaon Albums Music Chart

There is no doubt that BTS’ recent song and album of the same name, Butter, has been a worldwide hit ever since it was released in May this year. However, this month, Butter reached new heights with the announcement that the album opened at number one on the Gaon Album’s monthly chart and outsold all 99 other albums on the list—combined.

The Gaon Album’s monthly chart is a list that ranks the bestselling albums in South Korea every month and Butter unsurprisingly took the top spot in August with their sale of an incredible 2,490,969 copies in July.

This comes shortly after Butter, the single, ranked number one on both the Gaon Digital and Gaon Download charts. These lists rank the most-consumed songs and the bestselling tracks respectively.

The song has also beat the Guinness World Records for the most number of views within 24 hours of its release and topped the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart.

This achievement simply prolongs BTS’ year of incredible musical achievements. In fact, the boy band recently became the first musical act to top the Hot 100, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular tracks in the United States twice in the same year with a total of five number one hits in about 10 and a half months after their latest song, Permission to Dance, debuted at number one on the list.

The septet was also recently appointed by South Korean President Moon Jae-in as the Special Presidential Envoy For Future Generations And Culture in their country.
