What is the most extreme thing you've ever done?

Jumping off the Sky Tower in New Zealand. It’s the tallest building there at over 1,000 feet high, and the jump lasts 11 seconds long in freefall. I was dared to do it by a friend while visiting Auckland and although this might seem like child’s play to some of the daredevils out there, it was definitely a challenge for me having grown up scared of heights. Overall, it was an exhilarating experience. Despite the apprehensiveness beforehand, I actually enjoyed the adrenaline rush on the way down.

What does it take to be daring today?

Being daring does not necessarily always equate to making radical changes or disrupting the status quo in a big way. I believe that being daring today is really about staying true to one’s self and living life on our own terms without caving into societal pressures. The fear of taking the path less travelled or looking foolish in the eyes of others is often an impediment to truly maximising potential and achieving personal breakthroughs. In a world where many are satisfied to just go with the flow, having the conviction to stand by one’s views and following through can also be the most daring and bold thing one can do.

In your line of work, what does it being bold entail?

In the online video entertainment world, there is an abundance of content all vying for the attention and mindshare of consumers. Hence, it’s been a steadfast belief of mine that in order to cut through the noise and win the audience attention, one has to be bold in delivering content that is truly thought provoking and can spark conversation or virality.

This means constantly challenging the conventions of storytelling by producing shows that are truly real and authentic, even if it means touching on themes and topics that are less explored or have historically been underrepresented on screen. This boldness also manifests itself in how success is defined for a production—in a globalised world with borderless access to content, the ambition is no longer just to achieve significant viewership locally but also on a global scale.

Why is it important to be daring professionally?

They say fortune favours the bold and the daring, and I couldn’t agree more. By being daring, one is more likely to accelerate personal growth and achieve breakthrough accomplishments. There are plenty of successful leaders who serve as inspiration for having achieved great success simply by taking a leap of faith in pursuing something they had conviction in and sticking by it. Those who are bold and daring also command the respect of colleagues, peers and even competitors. Besides, it’s also more fun and exciting!

What's your favourite workout and why?

As I am typically on the road a lot of the time, I tend to just do quick runs and high intensity full body gym sessions on my own as they are both practical and efficient ways to stay in shape. But when I'm not travelling, I love heading out to boxing and spin classes as they are fun, build all round muscle endurance, and release stress. Having other people together in the class going through the same routine pushes me further but the key to a fulfilling session is definitely a killer playlist.

What do you think of the new Zenith Defy Extreme Carbon and how do you think it fits into your lifestyle?

It's big, bold and highly functional but also remarkably easy to wear despite its larger size. It has an amazing fit and finish, solidly constructed while being visually striking. It is also astonishingly light. I love its sporty look and feel, and am definitely a big fan of the multiple strap options that are easily interchangeable and run across a range of colours and styles.

This is perfect for me as I am constantly on the go. I generally spend half the month outside of the country and when I am not running in and out of meetings, I’m trying to stay fit through different workout routines. Having a timepiece that not only looks great but also offers great versatility and durability is perfect for my daily routine.
