To be held in Singapore from October 21-30, the inaugural UltraLuxe festival will be an experience of jewellery, watches, fashion and home design unlike any other. It will encapsulate Asia's most prestigious jewellery fair JeweLuxe, the Singapore Watch Fair, and The Advocacy Show featuring cross-industry panel sessions on pertinent topics, from global trends and sustainability to the meaning of luxury itself.

This year, all visitors—whether they are beginners, enthusiasts, connoisseurs or tastemakers—will behold a truly world-class curation to the theme, Luxury of Niche. Inside The Tent at Ngee Ann City on the famous Orchard Road, they will be able to peruse breathtaking displays from renowned independent jewellery designers, prestige watchmakers, celebrated fashion designers and furniture brands.

At the sixth edition of JeweLuxe, you will find on display incredible collection of high-octane gems and jewels, worth an estimated US$200 million, from all around the world. Shop directly from world-class jewellery designers at this exhibition, which is split into two sections: Icons & Legacies and Wonders & Passions.

Icons & Legacies will run from October 21-25, and showcase European powerhouses, such as Paolo Costagli and Sicis. The former's high jewellery creations are on permanent display at the MoMa in New York, and leads in creating bold and geometric designs inspired by Italian architecture. The latter, led by Gioia Placcuzzi, excels in micromosaics to create sensational shape, movement and depth to its pieces. Other European luxury jewellery brands to catch are Tenzo, Alexander Laut, Mousson Atelier, Zydo, and Rota e Rota. 

This section will also feature the designers of Asia. Among them is Umrao, known for its rare, sought-after gems and exquisite Hollywood-approved creations which combine distinct art deco aesthetic with elements from Indian art and culture.

Jewellery and timepieces often go hand-in-hand, so the wide selection of jewellers at UltraLuxe will also showcase their ranges of watches at the Singapore Watch Fair from October 26-30. Local and international watchmakers, L’Epée 1839, Singer Reimagined, Furlan Marri, Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, Bianchet, Ophion, Phillips Watches and Behrens, will also be participating with pieces to add to your collection.

For those looking to meet like-minded people in the watch community, you can look forward to Talking Time, a line-up of masterclasses to allow guests to gain insights from leading curators, designers, watchmakers, and experts. Panelists include well-respected personalities such as Carson Chan, chief advisor to the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, and prominent female watch collectors such as Sumei Shum, Emy Lee and Stephanie Soh.

There will be ample opportunity for you to enrich your technical knowledge of jewellery and watchmaking. For instance, The Savoir Series will feature live conversations between Angela Loh, founder of UltraLuxe, and an expert guest.

On October 21, internationally renowned influencer Katerina Perez will speak on the value excellent craftsmanship can add to jewellery pieces. The next day, journalist Richa Goyal Sikri will share how to identify a quality jewellery purchase with a special focus on coloured gemstones, IP design, and value appreciation.

For watchmaking enthusiasts, there will be a fascinating Talking Time deep dive into the Calasys System which eliminates defects of the hairspring in the watch, led by its creator, the self-taught Italian watchmaker Vincent Calabrese.

Loh has noted the shift in perception when it comes to consumers of watches and jewellery, as they rally behind niche brands and independent talents for exclusive, unique creations in their search for purpose and meaning in craft. She adds: "UltraLuxe is the culmination of this trend, converging talents and passions around the world to present the concept of 'purpose-focused' luxury that extends beyond jewellery and timepieces to include fashion and living."

That is the rationale behind its new exhibition, The Advocacy Show, which presents a new vision of luxury for a new generation of shoppers by featuring brands imbued with meaning and purpose. The exciting line-up is as below: 

  • Duchess & Queen, a celebration of Bridgerton-era fashion from Paris-based designer label Anne Fontaine, handcrafted hats by Singapore homegrown milliner Eskpade Millinery, and elaborate jeweller in the style of European royalty
  • Urban Manifesto, a collection of brands which promote and protect cultural natural heritage
  • NeueLuxe, the fashion and jewellery brands like Triologie by Sylvia Lim who are breaking the rules of design and embracing their creativity and imagination
  • The New Modern, a retrospective on Singapore’s famous Orchard Road, curated in collaboration with shophouse.com, Chinese Women Association, and Laichan
  • The Studio, a space for jewellery lovers to gleam insights from bespoke designers, such as An Order of Bling and Calla Lily
