The late Diana, Princess of Wales, cherished the timeless elegance of the choker, amassing an impressive collection adorned with pearls, diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, rubies, and amethysts.

One of Princess Diana’s most sentimental pieces was the 18th Birthday Pearl Choker, featuring a delicate flower-shaped clasp. This choker, a gift marking her transition into adulthood, was worn during her poignant visit to the World War II cemetery in Anzio, Italy, in April 1985. On this occasion, the choker’s understated elegance and the symbolic blossoming flower clasp contrasted with the somber backdrop, reflecting Diana’s deep respect and empathy, as well as her ability to convey powerful messages through her choice of attire.

The iconic revenge dress moment was further accentuated by Diana’s exquisite necklace, a piece ingeniously crafted from a diamond and sapphire brooch that originally belonged to Queen Mary. This brooch, gifted to Diana by the Queen Mother on her wedding day, was typically worn by Diana in a less conventional fashion—she had it reworked into the centrepiece of a seven-strand pearl choker. This distinctive necklace became a hallmark of her style, showcased at many significant events, including the unforgettable evening when she danced with John Travolta at President Reagan’s White House Gala in 1986, the night Prince Charles announced his affair.
