Today would have been Princess Diana's 65th birthday — and as we remember her, here are our favourite snapshots of the legendary style she left behind, one that continues to inspire the world nearly 29 years on.

The world stopped when the news broke that Princess Diana died in a car crash in August 1997. Affectionately known as the people’s princess, she was loved by the public for her angelic face, kind words, charitable deeds and fabulous sense of style.

Her favourite designers included Catherine Walker, Gianni Versace, Christian Dior and Salvatore Ferragamo, and she was often seen sporting one or more of their pieces at the many events she had to attend.

However, even before she married royalty, Princess Diana knew exactly what worked for her, and photos of her even as a young woman showed that she always had excellent taste. To celebrate what would have been her 65th birthday on July 1, we round up some of our favourite fashion moments of hers that we’d wear to this day.
