For fall/winter 2023, the Italian fashion brand looked to its triangle logo to create its standout handbags
Prada has the uncanny ability to turn just about anything into a must-have for fashion fans. So far, that has included lug-soled boots, nylon bags and bucket hats. We will soon add triangle handbags to that list, according to the Italian brand’s fall/winter 2023 runway show at Milan Fashion Week.
Attended by guests like Dua Lipa, Bling Empire’s Tina Leung and Korean actor Song Kang, Prada’s latest fashion show was an ode to minimalism, very much like its men’s show in January. The collection, designed by co-creative directors Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, offered clothes that are modern, pared-back and very wearable. That includes Prada signatures like full skirts, A-line coats, slouchy sweaters, and sharp tailoring.
The minimalist mood of Prada’s collection also left little room for accessories—with the exception of sleek, triangle-shaped handbags.

These top-handle bags stood out immediately with their distinctive shape, achieved by a structured, slim body and thin straps. Three different styles were presented on the runway: a handbag with a triangle-shaped metal clasp and a plain, logo-free façade; a tote branded with the Prada logo in gold; and a flap shoulder bag with triangular metal hardware.
Each design came in smooth leather, much like the brushed leather used in Prada’s bestselling Cleo bag. One of the handbags was adorned with a floral embossed design, mirroring the details on the skirt modelled by Gigi Hadid.
Keeping things simple, the bags were also limited to a colour palette of subdued, neutral hues that were used in the collection, namely black, grey, white and brown. There were also styles in sorbet yellow and pale pink—colours that have been seen on other It-bags by Prada.

While the new Prada bags have yet to be officially named, we’re already betting that we will see them everywhere in 2023. In recent seasons, the Italian fashion brand has distinguished itself with buzzy bag lines like the Prada Triangle and the Prada Symbole. These two particular styles take cues from Prada’s triangle logo, which was introduced in 1919. The fashion house’s latest accessories tap into that emblem in a subtle way, which is refreshing given how logo-heavy the brand’s more recent offerings have become.
Prada fans don’t seem to mind, either way. The label, which was recently named the hottest fashion brand by fashion search platform Lyst, has won over celebrities and style stars with designs like the Prada Moon shoulder bag. The 2000s-inspired accessory was the bag of choice for many guests at Prada’s F/W 2023 show, including Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer and K-pop star Jeon Somi. Next season, expect to see them flaunting Prada’s minimalist arm candy instead.
