These celebrities may have ditched this year's dress code, but they still dazzled in their own way

There are many ways to interpret the Gilded Glamour dress code. Themed, "In America: An Anthology of Fashion", this year's Met Gala has been interesting.

Spectators have patiently anticipated the best and worst looks on the famed stairwell. Frankly, while some have embodied the grace and glamour of the gilded age, others outshined them with ensembles that didn't quite match the dress code.

Have a look at some of the stars who donned off-themed outfits yet still served looks in their own way.

Jared Leto and Alessandro Michele showed up at the Met Gala in a matching Gucci ensemble. Despite making an impression, many spectators on the internet thought it was off-theme and that reminded them more of the Grady twins from Stephen King's The Shining which also isn't set during the Gilded Age.

Kylie Jenner arrived wearing an entirely different style—a ball cap with a veil and a ruffled gown—but for a good reason. Jenner explained in her Instagram caption that the Off-White look was designed by her friend, the late Virgil Abloh. She said, "[V]irgil and I were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020. To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me. I’m humbled to wear this dress and honour my talented beautiful friend".

3. Ciara

Wearing Michael Kors, Ciara flaunted her metallic silver look which consists of a zebra print gown, silver heels, and a silver foil hairstyle. Although the singer dazzled on the red carpet, it didn't hit the mark when it came to the event's dress code.

Olivia Rodrigo, known for her covetable '90s and 2000s outfits, wore a '90s-inspired gown teamed with gloves and butterfly hair accessories. We wouldn't exactly call it 'Gilded Glamour'. Still, Rodrigo looked absolutely glamorous in her purple gown.

5. Irina Shayk

It appears Irina Shayk completely ignored this year's Met Gala dress code and wore a leather get-up from head to toe. The model stood out among others who wore voluminous gowns and glistening jewellery as she wore a Burberry leather suit complete with gloves and boots.

With the help of Julien Dossena of Paco Rabanne, Sabrina Carpenter attended her first-ever Met Gala wearing a gorgeous studded gown embellished with rhinestones and sequins. Although, it appears that the dress evoked merely glamour than gilded glamour altogether.

We can't help but wonder why Jung Ho-yeon wore a Louis Vuitton structured cut-out dress that didn't match the theme. Fortunately, the star knows how to rock the red carpet, regardless of what she's wearing, as she's proven time and time again. And yes, we're talking about that night when she donned the uniquely sculpted number from the fashion house's Spring 2022 collection.
