At its women’s flagship store in Takashimaya, Fendi celebrates the 25th anniversary of its beloved It-bag
You could say that the Fendi Baguette birthed the very idea of an It-bag. Since Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw established it as her favourite bag on the show Sex and the City, it has remained a coveted accessory for women the world over—and one that has come in many different versions over the years.
25 years, to be exact. To celebrate the anniversary of its iconic bag, Fendi has launched a collection of Re-Edition Baguette bags, each selected from the Italian fashion brand’s archives.
That includes the dazzling mirror-embellished design from Fendi’s spring/summer 1999 collection, for which the Baguette’s creator, Silvia Venturini Fendi, was inspired by her mother’s glamorous home. There’s also an embroidered bag (featuring over 16,000 turquoise beads!) from the same collection. Add to that a denim Baguette, a sequinned Baguette, and a crystal-covered Baguette—all released in the 2000s and now making a timely comeback.

These 25th anniversary Baguette bags, which were unveiled back in September at a special runway show in New York, are now proudly showcased at Fendi’s new store in Takashimaya at Ngee Ann City. The space is dedicated to the Italian fashion brand’s offerings for women, which run the gamut from ready-to-wear designed by Kim Jones to Fendi furs, handbags in exotic skins and small leather goods.
