Cinema stars and models graced the first day of the Cannes Film Festival with unforgettable ensembles. Many of them showed off brilliant colours: Cannes jury member Rebecca Hall set the tone, literally, with her Gucci gown in bright red and pink, the latter being the defining hue of Final Cut actress’ embellished Valentino jumpsuit.
Others opted for elegant ensembles that can stand the test of time—see Julianne Moore’s black ballgown or Rossy de Palma’s powerful Saint Laurent suit. Deepika Padukone, another Cannes jury member, certainly made an impression with her custom sari from Indian fashion brand Sabyasachi. Inspired by the Bengal Tiger, the sari dazzled with sequins and stripes that have been block-printed and embroidered by the hands of Sabyasachi’s artisans.
