The Swiss luxury brand will also introduce new, cinema-inspired high jewellery creations to its Red Carpet Collection

With awards season done and dusted and the gilded glamour from Met Gala fresh in our minds, there is much excitement about the upcoming festivities in Cannes as the prestigious film festival celebrates its 75th anniversary as well as its 25-year partnership with Chopard.

Adding to the excitement, co-president and artistic director of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele recently announced the theme for this year's latest additions to the beloved Red Carpet Collection: 'Chopard Loves Cinema'. Drawing inspiration from cinema itself as well as films—new and old—that have made a lasting impact, we cannot wait to see these new creations from the famous red carpet jeweller on the world's biggest stars come May 17.

As a teaser, Chopard unveils a delicate floral brooch in a tribute to Charlie Chaplin's 1931 heartwarming romantic comedy City Lights. Adorned with black and white diamonds with beautiful petals that dance gracefully, the brooch is a labour of love that recreates rose that Chaplin's character wears on his lapel as he meets the Blind Flower Girl.

To mark this milestone in both the Cannes Film Festival and Chopard's history, there will also be a special edition of the iconic Palme d'Or trophy, the most prestigious award reserved for the best film. In a stunning display of craftsmanship, two of the tiny leaves will be studded with diamonds, exactly 75 and 25 diamonds on each to symbolise the double celebration.

The Fairmined-certified 18k yellow gold Palme will also be placed on a stunning base of rose quartz, a stone that represents the beauty and love of cinema that underpins the annual occasion.

"In 25 years, I've been privileged to witness special moments in the world of cinema and a lot of emotions. Since 2014, we have also used this symbol of the festival, the Palme d'Or, to draw the world's attention to the theme of ethics and environmental responsibility. Our workshops have made the award the first ethical film trophy, crafted from Fairmined-certified gold," says Scheufele.

"For all actors, directors and other professionals in the film industry, the Cannes Film Festival serves as both a springboard and a career highlight. It is a time of great emotion, an enchanted moment to immerse oneself in a wide variety of works: for 11 days, we are gathered in the enchanting setting of the Bay of Cannes, and yet we take pleasure in being confined inside a cinema to discover films inspired by love and passion, as well as by drama, struggles and social issues.”

Chopard will also be carrying on its tradition of uplifting emerging actors and actresses with the Trophée Chopard.
