Fashion insiders and fans of the iconic brand got an exclusive look at Daniel Lee's first collection for Burberry
Fall/Winter 2023 marks a pivotal moment for the house of Burberry. In one of fashion's most hotly anticipated moments, chief creative officer Daniel Lee debuted his first collection for the brand—redefining luxury for a new era while paying homage to its rich, storied history.
Last week, Tatler Singapore partnered with Burberry for an exclusive event. The occasion? We introduced the new collection to long-time fans of the brand and a handpicked selection of fashion insiders. It was an intimate, laid-back affair set amidst the luxurious surroundings of the brand's boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.

Kicking off the festivities was a showcase presented by Tatler Singapore’s Branded Content Editor, Adriel Chiun, who regaled guests with his anecdotes about the brand. "Burberry is not just a label; it's a symbol of heritage, craftsmanship, and proof that true style is, indeed, eternal," he said.
A total of six women's and men's looks from the Fall/Winter 2023 collection were presented, each one bearing the instantly recognisable hallmarks of Burberry such as the Equestrian Knight logo and checkered motifs. But in keeping with his fresh new vision, Lee reimagined them large-scale in bold colourways of red, blue and yellow, and also introduced new design elements such as roses and ducks as a nod to Burberry's quintessentially British heritage. Chiun noted: "In his vision, Burberry has become a veritable modern British maison of luxury." Outwear was arguably the standout element of the evening. And there were several of them, including a check draped coat with a scarf detail, an oversized blanket cape and a reversible bomber jacket for the gents.
As models strutted around the boutique—giving guests a closer look at the runway pieces—Chiun shared styling tips on how to incorporate Burberry accessories to elevate their looks. His bags of choice: the Knight bag ("a stylish play of hard and soft"), as well as the Small Shield bag, which comes with a detachable bell charm.
Following the fashion showcase, the evening continued as guests browsed the collection while treating themselves to canapes and champagne. Some even took the opportunity to try out some of the runway looks. Tatler friend Nina Kaginda looked especially fetching in a matching duck print shirt and kilt, accessorised with the Small Shield bag and Shearling Step Rose sandals in yellow for a playful pop of colour.
