While every white sneaker may seem similar at first glance, there can be significant variations among brands, styles, materials used, and overall appeal when choosing a great pair. Here, we asked the Tatler team and our favourite stylists for their best picks.
Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66

“I've always been a chunky sneaker girl, but the Onitsukas are the only ‘skinny’ pair I gravitate to—mostly because of the sporty look and retro shape. They go together really well with a pair of mom jeans and a basic white tee but also provide a cute juxtaposition with more polished looks. Aside from styling, the history of the shoe is what really sold me. Being one of their first models to feature the famous Tiger Stripes, the pair holds a significant place in sneaker history. If you know, you know. But above all else, the natural arch of the insoles gives me maximum comfort when I have to run around for errands, and that's truly what a good shoe is about at the end of the day.”

Miu Miu x New Balance 547

“I almost never wear sneakers, though I do keep up with the sneaker scene and have a few pairs that I’ve been eyeing but will probably never buy—they just don’t complement my style very well. Nevertheless, my favourite type of sneakers are the ones that are versatile and classic but not basic, they need to have a certain funky or unique touch that’s subtly eye-catching without being tacky. Very specific, I know. The Miu Miu x New Balance 547 is just one of my favourites, but admittedly I just had to mention these sneakers in particular only because I’m a hardcore Miu Miu girl. That being said, they’re also super cute and they elevated the 547 perfectly.”

Vans Classic Slip-Ons

“I’ve lost count of the number of Vans Classic Slip-Ons I have. Perhaps I couldn’t be bothered with laces, but the shoe’s ease and minimal lines have always earned it a place in my shoe collection—like this white canvas pair with a gum sole.”

Asics Novablast

“I know very little when it comes to sneakers, but (like many others in their mid-20s) I’ve signed up for a half marathon at the end of the year. I was recommended a pair of the Asics Novablast by my colleague and they’ve been my trusty running shoes ever since!”

Reebok Club Cs

“In a world teeming with ‘limited-edition’ releases, collaborations, and changing trends for ‘it shoes’, the Reebok Club C 85 Vintage remains a timeless classic since its 1985 debut. These white sneakers’ simple, low-top design makes them universally appealing yet understated. Its worn-in, off-white hue and retro aesthetics evoke vintage tennis attire while maintaining a modern, low-profile shape. Wear it with a weathered oxford shirt or plain tee and a pair of vintage 501s—you’re good to go.”

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lift Platform Utility

“Even though I’m not big on sneakers and can currently only wear a single shoe, I like the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Lift Platform Utility because they very loosely resemble platform Doc Martens. And also because I just like Converse.”

“I like the simplicity and ‘cleanliness’ of the design and they’re the comfiest, white sneakers ever. You can walk for days in them, no problem. Also, I love the hint of colour at the back! Plus, it’s a Singaporean brand so (as a Singaporean) I’m inclined to support!”

“These white sneakers are so comfortable, it feels like I’m walking on little clouds. I love that they are sustainable, crafted from recycled and organic cotton with eco-friendly soles. The central elastic fastening makes them a breeze to slip on and the option to wear them without laces adds versatility. The thicker rubber sole platform adds a stylish edge, turning this basic sneaker into an elevated fashion statement.”

Golden Goose Brand Super Star Lace

“I love their signature ‘broken in’ and vintage look of these sneakers because I feel it adds character. It’s casual, versatile, and comfortable—everything you want in white sneakers. They can be dressed up or down, perfect for most occasions.”

Hoka Clifton 9

“I will shamelessly admit I bought these sneakers just to feel like I’m a little fitter, even though I don’t run and the brand is popular among runners. However, I do love how the low-top chunky-sole shoes prioritise comfort. Their extended wing-like heel collar also doubles as a shoehorn, making them easier to slip on.”
