As expected, many took to celebrating and recreating Netflix's biggest hit: Squid Game

Let's face it: we all knew we'd be seeing an abundance of green-and-white tracksuits and pink coveralls this Halloween. Netflix's Squid Game, officially announced as the platform's biggest show, has given birth not only to unlimited memes on the internet but also innumerable costume adaptations . . . but who really pulled it off the best?

In Case You Missed It: What if 'Squid Game' Was Held in the Philippines?

1. Lisa of Blackpink

You may have been seeing a lot of Lisa lately with her uber-popular drops like Lalisa, Money, and a recent collab with Megan Thee Stallion, DJ Snake and Ozuna for SG but the pop star was once again a showstopper with her Squid Game inspired outfit, dressed as the doll from the Red Light, Green Light game.

In an interview with Jimm Fallon, actress Jung Ho-yeon shared that the doll featured on the show is actually based on a duo in Korean pop culture: Chulsoo and Younghee - similar to Jack and Jill, respectively.

Spooky rating: extra points for cute eerie poses and a bonus candid snap.

2. Kerry Washington

The Scandal actress joined in on the fun as a contestant 456. Although her tracksuit isn't a canonical recreation of the show's game uniform, Washington ups the ante with a video featuring the series soundtrack.

Spooky rating: not the most accurate depiction but dedication worthy of an Oscar-nod!

3. Tim Yap

If there's anyone that could perhaps rival Heidi Klum's dedication to Halloween pageantry, it would be Tim Yap. Known for his incredible (and timely) costumes, the August 2020 Tatler cover subject is no stranger to pulling off some of pop culture's most iconic characters.

He's donned most-everything from a demogorgon (Stranger Things), the Night King from Game of Thrones, to Gru from Despicable Me, Edward Scissorhands, and much more. Of course, Yap didn't miss the opportunity to go all out with his Player 001 recreation.

What's Halloween without prosthetics and multiple looks? Yap recreated Player 001's iconic tracksuit (with matching dalgona snacks and marbles) and took it up a notch by also portraying the character's last appearance on the show - bald cap and oxygen mask in tow.

Spooky rating: this definitely isn't amateur hour.

4. Winter of Aespa

Aespa is one of K-pop biggest names right now. With their experimental sound and edgy concepts, the all-girl group has shot to fame in no time at all. This year, the group's lead vocalist, Winter, took to channelling her own version of Younghee, matched with a giant spider and a skeleton friend.

Spooky rating: adorably sinister but nothing out-of-the-box.

5. Eric Nam

The pop singer participated in promoting Netflix and TikTok's recreation of the Squid Game set for a limited-run pop-up in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Much to the delight of his fans, he was spotted playing Ddakji and Red Light, Green Light. Though he struggled to win at the games, Nam flexed his signature charisma and infectious energy.

Spooky rating: definitely the most charming Squid Game ambassador.

6. Son Ye-jin's Furry Pal

While many may find sporting Squid Game's pink coveralls quite controversial, this celebrity pup is here to quell the debate. Companion to one of Korea's biggest names, Son Ye-jin (Crash Landing on You, Something in the Rain), the ironically-named Maltese, Kitty, is only here to capture hearts and provoke awws and endearing nicknames.

Spooky rating: best-dressed non-feline Kitty.

7. Moon Se-yoon

Beloved comedian and star of the highly-rated variety show 2 Days and 1 Night, Moon Se-yoon gives Lisa and Winter a run for their money with his own version of the Younghee doll.

Rating: pigtails never looked so deadly.
