Meet the French founder of this rising all-natural Balinese beauty brand and find out how she keeps her skin health in check
Growing up in the south of France, Souhela Ferrah was surrounded by flower fields. As the daughter of a pharmacist, she grew up with a strong affinity with nature and understood it very well.
Thanks to her family, her hometown and her travels around the world, she found inspiration in natural healers, herbalists and nature itself. And this was enough to motivate her to start an honest skincare brand. Fields of Yarrow is the result of her deep desire to share her passion and love for plants, flowers and herbs, as well as her knowledge of natural skincare.
But what makes this journey unique is the fact that Fields of Yarrow was born in Bali, Indonesia. When one thinks of the scenic island, what instantly comes to mind for many is the idea of rest, relaxation and self-care. As such, the products created under Fields of Yarrow are mindfully and sustainably created to soothe, relax and rejuvenate.

Each Fields of Yarrow product is packed with as many vitamins, nutrients, plants and flowers as possible in order to achieve the maximum benefits from one product; the best out of each ingredient in its purest form is extracted and added to their formulations in the highest, yet safest concentration possible to yield optimal results without adding artificial chemicals or harmful ingredients.
Since the brand’s inception in 2020, it has achieved a steady following of loyal customers. The brand launched in Singapore back in November 2022, as a first step towards expanding its business beyond Bali.
What the brand strongly believes in is the experience of every individual’s skincare routine—the daily ritual of applying luxurious products is an act of self-care that not only helps one look good not just on the outside but inside as well.
Below, we speak to Ferrah and find out her daily skincare routines and how she maintains her skin health with consistency.
How long do you typically spend on your skincare routine?
I grew up in France and there, everything is about the “less is more” philosophy. Essential is my mantra, and I like to not overdo it. My morning routine is made of a few steps only while my evenings are when I spend extra time taking care of my skin.
What is your skincare routine like for the day?
I never cleanse my face in the morning and rather spend time massaging in a few sprays of our Rosa Damascena floral toner - a beauty secret I got from generation to generation. My morning routine is all about hydration and protection. I like to listen to my skin in the morning and create a routine that will deliver what it needs to thrive.
I never wash my face in the morning to avoid stripping off the natural oils, resulting in disrupting the skin barrier and weakening it.
- I start with cleansing my face with mineral water.
- A few sprays of our Rosa Damasca floral toner and proceed to a massage for a gentle wake up.
- I then apply our Daily vitamin Rich serum (to deliver deep hydration) or our Super C crème-serum (to double up my sunscreen protection and moisturize)
- 1 to 2 pumps or our Rose-Mandarin eye balm (not available in SG yet)
- And last, our Rosehip & Mandarin day cream with SPF 30
What is your skincare routine for night?
My evening routine has a bit more steps and I like to take the chance to make it a ritual to cleanse not only my skin but the day away by lighting up a candle to set the surrounding right.
- I start with double cleansing using our Nectar De Rose - Revitalizing Cleansing Oil. A nourishing oil cleanser formulated with jojoba, argan, olive oil, and rosehip oil to gently clarify and restore the skin without over-drying it for healthy, dewy-looking skin. Then follow with Fleur De Rose - Soothing Face Wash. A gentle, low foaming, vitamin-rich face wash formulated to deep clean and provide moisture for vibrant, healthy, and glowing skin.
- A few spray of Eau de Fleur floral essence (not available in SG), Formulated with hyaluronic acid and natural humectants like Glycerin, Aloe Vera and Rose water, Eau de Fleur is a hydrating boosting mist that plumps and hydrates the skin to the deepest layers. Combining effectiveness and softness to create a new skin. Day after day, it reveals a smooth, plump and regenerated skin.
- I love using our Hyaluronic Acid & Palmarosa Restorative Serum because it’s extremely light and travels deep into the layer of my skin. After using this product I can feel my skin is soft and plump.
- In the evening this is when I will spend extra time on my eye area. Our Brightening Grapefruit - Eye Oil Serum is perfect as a night treatment. An organic eye care treatment formulated to brighten up, tighten and depuff the eye area. Made with botanical extracts to soothe, tone, and help lighten the dark circles under your eyes. The applicator, made of Rose Quartz being naturally cold, will help the oil absorb deeper into your skin for better results.
- As a last step I apply a few drops of the Wild Rose face oil and proceed to a 5 min face massage using our 5 in 1 Gua Sha tool.
What was the last skincare product that you bought?
I’m a true skincare lover, my beauty shelf does not consist of only FY products. I believe that there are other inspiring and beautiful brands out there so I would never miss out on a product that I think will be loved by my skin. I also love the idea of supporting other businesses.
During my last trip to Singapore, I was actually offered the Dew Drops cleansing gel from Forest Rhapsody and I love it. The ingredients, the smell, everything about it is amazing.
Are there any new skincare trends that you’re excited to try?
I’m not such a trend follower to be honest, I have very sensitive skin and wouldn't take any risk.
I like to say that my skin and I have a connection and I always listen to my gut feelings when it comes to trying new products.
Over the years I have learned how to listen to my skin needs. The advice I can give is to listen to your skin and learn how to repair it instead of trying new trends that will do more damage to your skin.
When did you start paying extra attention to your skin?
I have always been a skincare lover since a very young age. I got it from my mother. In France, we are lucky enough to have these beautiful pharmacies filled with all-natural, flower and plant-based skincare products. My mother would always take me with her shopping for skincare and teach me the essentials of skincare “Less is more” and natural all the way.
What’s one skincare must-have you’ve “influenced” others to purchase?
I would say our Supercharged serum stick. It has not only changed my skin but many of our customers.
What’s a skincare product you can’t live without?
If I could only choose one, it would probably be a good moisturizer. Our Super C crème-serum has the function of a moisturizer and serum all in one.
What’s the most important skincare step to you?
Double cleansing, 100 per cent. For me, it is the most important part of an evening routine. I love the feeling of going to bed with perfectly clean skin and letting it soak in all the goodness of the routine while sleeping.
Double cleansing will bring back your skin to its natural functioning state. When you do this step every night you will see a true transformation.
Where and what is your go-to facial?
Every 3 weeks I book myself in our own studios for a treatment that I created for myself. Each treatment is personalised by our therapists, working together to meet your skin goals, pure and simple.
Our Studio is the first in Bali to offer 100 per cent natural facial treatments using exclusively our in-house products. Focusing on customizable facials, we provide the best possible care, helping to offset environmental damage and elevate your glow.
Is skincare the new self-care? What are your thoughts on this?
Beauty can be a tool of compassion.
All too often the focus is on the ingredients, we believe using the ‘best’ ingredients goes without saying, our focus lies also on the experience of skincare - the daily rituals created around our products, the simple acts of self-care - moments where you are present with yourself and focusing solely on you. It is in this space that skincare can become a tool for well-being, a way to not only elevate your outer glow but also your inner health.
We create products to be experienced rather than applied with meaningful formulas enriched with essential oils to create an aromatherapeutic ritual.
Our purpose doesn't stop at the skin layer, FY is also focused on a holistic approach to beauty. For us topical skin care is only half the equation.
What is one piece of skincare advice that you live by?
Skincare rather than makeup. Focus on making your skin healthy and happy on a daily basis rather than hiding it with makeup. Once you understand your skin needs and find what's best for you, your skin will thank you.
What is your beauty tool of choice? Can you explain how you use it and why?
I love our 5 in 1 Gua Sha tool together with our Wild Rose face oil in the evening. Gua Sha can help in a field that skincare doesn't, which is your facial lymphatic system. When your lymphatic is clogged with toxins, this can result in breakout and dull skin.
I apply a few drops of the Wild Rose oil (as my last step of the evening routine) to help the tool glide better but also to get the best out of the oil and then proceed to a 5 min massage. I always use feather-like pressure to not miss the lymphatic layer which is superficial and easy to miss.
