Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams teamed up with master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud to create LVERS, a new fragrance for the maison

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director Pharrell Williams has joined forces with legendary master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud to create LVERS, a fragrance that embodies the warmth and vitality of sunlight. This highly anticipated launch marks Pharrell's foray into the world of perfumery, and the result is a scent that transcends mere fragrance, becoming a sensory experience that evokes the transformative power of light.

The inspiration behind LVERS is rooted in Pharrell’s philosophical question posed upon his arrival at Louis Vuitton: “What will you do when the sun shines on you?”

This question serves as a metaphor for seizing opportunities and embracing the positive energy that radiates from the sun. Cavallier Belletrud and his protégé and daughter Camille Cavallier Belletrud have masterfully translated this concept into an olfactory masterpiece.

At the heart of LVERS lies galbanum, a mythical resin rarely used in modern fragrances, revitalised and refined from its wild, vegetal state. This sappy and spicy note forms the core of the bouquet, grounded by the deep, woody sensibility of cedarwood and the creamy warmth of sandalwood. The composition is elevated by the zesty top notes of bergamot, gently announcing the galbanum like the early rays of sunrise.

Each ingredient in LVERS is rooted in ancient cultural practices connected to notions of healing and well-being. Galbanum was employed as a curative remedy in Ancient Greece, while cedarwood oil was used for preservation and warding off evil spirits in Ancient Egypt. Sandalwood and ginger are key components in Eastern medicine, renowned for their health benefits, and bergamot has long been considered a tool for mental and physical renewal across cultures.

The fragrance’s cylindrical flacon reflects and refracts light, with a prismatic finish electrifying the golden juice within, evoking the effect of sunlight gilding the skin. Complementing the fragrance is a travel case and a fragrance trunk crafted in the Damoflage motif, a signature of Pharrell’s creative expression at Louis Vuitton.
