For Ang, when designing custom garments for significant events, she enhances the users’ bodies by tailoring them to perfection taking into consideration on how the pieces will hug their figures. While on the other hand, her ready-to-wear line, incorporates more classic and stylish pieces that women can wear every day while still looking elevated and polished. “It’s about clothes that women can wear throughout the day, that are timeless,” Ang says. She shares that the designs she created a decade ago are wearable even today, allowing people to mix and match the pieces with both newer and or even older items they own in their closets.

When looking for something that can spark her creativity, travelling to different unique destinations is a significant source for this designer. This pastime affects her designs as she immerses herself in the world around her. “It inspires me not just to build a collection but also to research different materials we can use, each country offering beautiful pieces that can form an outfit.”

These philosophies extend to her approach to fragrance. "Queen of Silk" by Creed exemplifies how Ang uses different inspirations to create her designs. Chinese osmanthus lends a sweet, apricot-like perfume to the fragrance, which is followed by the earthy, rich notes of Javanese patchouli. The rich floral appeal of tuberose is the main attraction, and it ends with the woodsy, dry notes of agar and cedar, mellowed by the creamy, warm notes of Madagascan vanilla.

“Scent sets your mood every day,” Ang asserts. Wearing a particular scent, she explains, can frame your mind for that moment, “whether you want to be girly, a bit sexy, or even embody the strength typically associated with men’s scents.”

More than just a fragrance, “Queen of Silk” by Creed reflects the values of confidence and beauty that are present in Ang’s work. “Like getting dressed, it gives you a certain mood or confidence, what you want to be, what you want to feel like, and that helps put everything into life.” This fragrance is a great example of how scent and fashion can work together to create powerful and individual style expressions.
