Expanding its Plein Air complexion range, Hermès introduces its first foundation—a luminous matte formula with 34 shades designed to celebrate individuality through an invisible, even-toned finish
Since its founding, Hermès has built its reputation on understated elegance—and the Hermès Plein Air Luminous matte skincare foundation follows that principle precisely. Gregoris Pyrpylis, creative director of Hermès Beauty, has designed the House’s first foundation as an invisible base—a neutral tone that allows every personality the freedom to express itself. “This new collection for the complexion is essential,” he explains. “It is a simple offering designed to be used every day, daytime and evening.”
The formula offers medium coverage with a second-skin effect, comfortable and undetectable to wear whilst leaving the skin even-toned and imperfections softly blurred. The result strikes a balance between high-performance makeup and effective skincare, made with 71 per cent ingredients of natural origin.
The formula delivers immediate and lasting results through an 82 per cent skincare base. Three active ingredients work in tandem: niacinamide to improve skin quality, pure hyaluronic acid for intense moisture, and white mulberry extract to protect from oxidative stress. Day after day, the skin becomes smoother.

The foundation is available in 34 shades, grouped into five colour intensities—light, light-medium, medium, medium-deep, and deep—each offering three undertones: cool, neutral, and warm. Pyrpylis has expertly developed these variations to adapt to a broad spectrum of skin tones, from the lightest to the darkest. “This collection is designed for a broad spectrum of skin tones,” he notes. “Not only do the shades adapt to each complexion, they also enhance and care for it.”
The objects themselves reflect Hermès’ attention to craft. Pierre Hardy, creator of Hermès Beauty objects, has designed a bottle defined by pure, graphic lines—a circle and square combined in glass and metal. The part-frosted, part-transparent glass plays with perception, whilst the black-and-white lacquered metal cap is topped with the House’s ex-libris in gold permabrass. The black metal pump is subtly engraved with “Hermès Paris”.

Application can be intuitive or technical, depending on preference. The foundation may be dotted onto the face and smoothed with fingers for a natural result, or applied with Le Perfecteur brush for an even finish. Made in France by a living heritage company specialising in brush manufacture since 1793, this new tool joins the Les Pinceaux Hermès collection. Its bevelled shape—echoing a horse's hoof—features dense, supple bristles made of high-quality synthetic fibres that transfer product seamlessly to the skin. "This is a technical object," says Pyrpylis. "Its handle sits comfortably in the hand and its fibres adapt to all areas of the face, for swift, precise, and even application."
For those who prefer customisation, a brushed gold-tone metal palette and wooden applicator facilitate the hygienic mixing and application of complexion products. The palette bears the Hermès ex-libris in an easy-grip indent, styled after an artist's palette, whilst the flexible-tipped applicator allows for precise mixing and blending.

Above Completing the complexion ritual is the perfecting primer
The perfecting primer completes the ritual. Presented in a white bottle that highlights its skincare properties, this fluid is made with 92 per cent ingredients of natural origin and prepares the complexion for makeup application. Suitable for all skin types and offered in a neutral, universal shade, the primer boosts radiance, controls shine, and reduces the appearance of pores whilst evening out and soothing the skin. Like the foundation, it combines niacinamide, pure hyaluronic acid, and white mulberry extract for both instant and lasting smoothness. Whether used alone or under foundation, it is applied with fingertips to bare skin after your usual skincare routine.
The luminous matte skincare foundation, the perfecting primer, and the accompanying tools form a simple, essential ritual designed to maintain the complexion's natural radiance—a quiet confidence that defines the Hermès approach to beauty.
