What is your skin type?

Combination and sensitive skin.

Who inspired you to start a skincare routine?

My grandmother and I were always very keen on keeping our skin clear and youthful, having been a beach lover and always under the sun. I would always find ways to prevent wrinkles and premature ageing due to my lifestyle.

Can you take us through each step in your routine?

I cleanse my face first with Cetaphil gentle skin cleansing cloth, then a Cetaphil skin cleanser to wash my face. Then I pat my face with a tissue. [Then I apply] Cetaphil toner or micellar water by Avene to tone and clean after washing.

[I use] La Prairie Skin Caviar to moisturize my face.

Cellcosmet Switzerland cell ultra serum eye serum -XT. for my under eyes that come with a nozzle applicator you can glide for better application. Which is anti-fatigue, revitalizing and minimises puffy eyes and dark circles.

[I also apply] Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue.

How did you find a skincare routine that works for you?

It’s really trial and error. I tried recommendations from friends and aunts and somehow what works for others well doesn’t go well with my skin. I’m a skincare junkie and tried loads of products, some I have only used for a week and get allergic to, especially with my hypersensitive skin. Eventually, through time, I found the combination that suits my skin.

What skincare tip would you like to share that really works?

Always moisturize, apply under eye cream and put sunblock.

What skincare product do you consider your holy grail?

Cetaphil skin cleanser (to wash my face as I have very sensitive skin or Avene skin cleanser), Cellcosmet Switzerland cell ultra eye serum, La prairie skin caviar alternate with La Mer, Giorgio Armani tinted moisturizer [in] Crema Nuda.

How about facemasks?

Yes, I use a face mask once a week or at least every two weeks. I use the Aivee charcoal mask and the Aivee crystal mask.

Do you have a beauty/skincare horror story?

Lots I used to try anything new on the market I  read or hear is good just to find out I’m very allergic to it, I get wheels and rashes on my face and worse pimples. I realized with hyper sensitives skin less fragrance or no fragrance is better and just stick to the product you are used to and will not trigger allergies.

How often do you practise skin fasting (a break from skincare)?

Every 6 months. I also try to have an alternative moisturiser which I use alternately as I noticed using one product for years can also have some sort of a product fatigue.

What's a skincare rule you've broken that have done wonders to your skin?

Soaking my skin in castor oil when it’s super dry does wonders. It was taught to me by an aunt who does it every night and she has supple and youthful skin in her 60s.
