Here's a recap of what happened at this year's Sustainability Weekend, which was brought to you by Sime Darby Property and Volvo Car Malaysia
Already in its second year running, the Tatler Malaysia Sustainability Weekend 2023 has gotten bigger and better. This time around, being brought to you by Sime Darby Property alongside Volvo Car Malaysia.
Building on the success from the previous iteration, which took place in a smaller venue, the event continued to tackle engaging and thought- provoking topics, serving a greater purpose and proved to be beneficial for all who were there.
This time around taking place in The International Gallery at KLGCC Resort, this year’s event saw a huge leap in participating vendors as well as guests in attendance. A total of 21 brands participated, featuring champions of sustainability from industries such as fashion and accessories, beauty, living and food, to showcase innovative and environmentally friendly products and solutions.

On top of the brands that had set up booths for visitors to preview and purchase items from, there were also fun workshops to engage participants, who also brought their families. For example, children got to learn about sustainable energy sources at the Mereka workshop, where they got to build a solar-powered motorised unit to take home.
As a way to give back to the community while promoting sustainability, Volvo Car Malaysia set up a donation corner for unwanted but worthy items such as toys, clothes and more, to be donated to charities in support of children. The donation drop-off location was situated outside the entrance, aptly utilising the boot of a Volvo XC90—thus showcasing the ample storage space the SUV is capable of as well.
Participating brands managed to engage with members of the Tatler community as well as the general public over the course of the two days the event was held. At the same time, attendees also gained valuable insights from the four panel discussions that took place—each one covering specific topics such as eco-tourism, building sustainable communities, sustainable fashion, and the impact of food production and consumption on the environment and public health.
