All dishes are cooked without processed foods - thankfully, without sacrificing flavour either.

Imagine, you had just completed a strenuous game of golf or tennis and you are feeling so proud of yourself for the calories you burned. So you ‘treat’ yourself to an indulgent meal at the restaurant or café at the clubhouse you frequent. While you might think your exercise would balance out whatever food you ingest, truthfully it is not about the amount of food you consume that makes an overall difference to your health; it is the nutritious value inherent within each dish.
In a move one step ahead of its other clubhouses, KLGCC’s Golfer’s Terrace recently launched an additional menu consisting of a variety of entrees, salads, smoothies, juices and desserts that are delicious as well as healthy. Crafted with good health in mind, executive chef Arnold Kwok puts his heart and soul into crafting and executing this new line-up with meticulous precision.

What’s intriguing about this menu is Kwok’s choice of using healthier alternatives in the way he prepares or cooks his dishes. All of the dishes in this Healthy Menu are cooked with coconut oil; no preservatives or processed food are used in any way. Chef Kwok sticks to lean chicken, sea salt, unsalted butter and Omega 3 eggs in the creation of his meals as well. The ingredients are printed clearly in the menu to educate diners, as are the calorie count for each selection so a diner is empowered to make a healthier choice. “Each dish gives you an essence of its origins,” he says in summary of what he hopes to achieve with this menu. Whether you are looking at having your breakfast, lunch or dinner, there’s something for everyone.
Start your meal off with Kwok’s smoothie selection. For those seeking a jolt on your tastebuds, go for the Mango Berries smoothie, a smooth and sour concoction to perk up if you are tired. While its taste is milder, the Citrus Kiwi is a winner in our books for its zesty, refreshing flavours that certainly prepped our palate in anticipation of the food to come.

Do try Kwok’s chicken broccoli frittata that comes with a side of zucchini bread and banana nut muffin. Jam-packed with flavours that came from its use of farm fresh vegetables in its recipe, such as broccoli, eggplant, red pepper and onions, this frittata goes well with its accompanying spicy sauce.
The side dishes of zucchini bread and banana nut muffin deserve special mention on its own for its excellent flavours. Made with a mix of almond and coconut flour as substitute to white or wheat flour, these two baked goodies have a moist and soft texture that fills you up as you finish every bite.

Another must try on Kwok’s Healthy Menu is his tuna guacamole salad, consisting of tuna chunks, guacamole, Omega 3 eggs, tomato, black olives, onion and seasonal salad, topped with creamy pine nut dressing. The tuna chunks are creatively wrapped in seaweed so that it looks like a sushi; its salty combination melds beautifully with the crunchy pine nuts and array of fresh vegetables.

From the entrée list, go for a hearty selection such as the slow cooked beef brisket, cooked medium. The liberal use of seared garlic and pepper enhance the taste of the lean and juicy meat. We recommend eating the beef with a slather of its side of sweet potato mash on top; Kwok infuses this unique mash with coconut milk and fresh ginger for an extra oomph in flavour.
Fancy a lighter dish for your main course? Go for the salmon with warm tomato relish. The butter-seared Norwegian salmon is served atop a bed of salad comprising of tomato, black olives, onions, capers and basil. Flaky and tender, the oiliness of the salmon goes well with the sweetish sauce of the dish. If you need some rice in your system minus the carb overload, Golfer’s Terrace Healthy Menu offers the couscous-like cauli-rice (made from cauliflower) or steamed brown rice for you to choose from.

The healthy dessert menu at Golfer’s Terrace is short and sweet, if you will excuse the pun. Kwok’s unique sweet potato pie is made without wheat flour and has an interesting and fluffy texture. Do also try his warm mixed berries dessert, which is made from a variety of berries sautéed carefully with honey and mint instead of sugar. The sourness of the berries is balanced with a serving of coconut ice cream; this ice cream is handmade from pure coconut milk for an authentic taste.
