The Commonwealth Games 2022 ended on a high note for Malaysia, with national women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan bringing home the Malaysian contingent's seventh gold medal and exceeding the country's target of six gold medals at the Games, bringing the tally to seven golds, eight silvers and eight bronzes.

On August 8, Tan and Thinnah beat England’s Chloe Birch and Lauren Smith by 21-5 and 21-8 at the women’s doubles badminton match while Ng Tze Yong earned a silver at the men’s singles badminton match earlier.

It was sixteen-year-old rhythmic gymnast Ng Joe Ee who helped the Malaysian contingent hit its 6-gold target at The Games with a stellar performance in the ball and ribbon apparatus finals, winning two gold medals on August 7.
