Lotus’ first electric Hyper-GT is finally coming to Malaysia and will start at RM575,000

Lotus Cars Malaysia has announced that the order books for the Lotus Emeya have opened. The all-electric hyper GT, which made its global debut in New York last year, will be available in three distinct variants—the Emeya, Emeya S and Emeya R—in Malaysia, with prices starting from RM575,000.

The Lotus Emeya encapsulates the brand’s commitment to pure driving pleasure. Its power and precision come from an advanced two-speed transmission and a high-power dual-motor configuration, complemented by a race-grade braking system.

This combination delivers exhilarating performance, with the Emeya capable of reaching a top speed of over 250 km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.78 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric GTs in the world. According to its website, this is applicable for the Lotus Emeya R, the highest spec of the model.

The Emeya boasts a sleek exterior design with a distinctive shark-nose front end and LED headlights. Its coupe-like silhouette and integrated door handles contribute to its futuristic appearance, while an ultra-thin, colour-changing light strip at the rear enhances its modern aesthetic.

In addition, the Emeya features advance active aerodynamics to optimise performance and stability. This includes an active front grille that reduces drag and increases efficiency when closed while cooling the batteries and braking system when opened. An active air dam increases downforce at high speeds, improving handling and stability.

Like the Eletre, the Emeya has an electronically controlled air suspension system that reads the road ahead 1,000 times per second, automatically adjusting to ensure the smoothest ride possible.

Diving deeper into its aerodynamic design and considerations, the Emeya’s motorsports-inspired rear diffuser allows for smooth airflow beneath the car, which improves aerodynamic efficiency and stability. The dual-layer active rear spoiler provides more than 215 kg of net downforce, ensuring outstanding stability and handling at higher speeds.

When connected to a rapid 350kW DC charger, the Emeya can extend its range by 150 km with just a five-minute charge. It can also boost its range from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes. Depending on the variant, the Emeya offers a maximum WLTP driving range of between 490 km and 600 km.

The Emeya is also equipped with advanced features to ensure a safer and more enjoyable driving experience. These include real-time road information, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and a 55-inch augmented reality head-up display (HUD) that provides crucial information at a glance.
