Be sure to make room on your calendar for these exciting concerts, exhibitions and events happening in August 2024

Thanks to the blazing heat in Hong Kong and the summer holidays, one might assume that the social calendar in August will have fewer events—but the reality couldn’t be farther from that.

There are plenty of exciting things happening to keep those spending summer in the city fully engaged. From Canto-pop star Aaron Kwok returning to the Hong Kong coliseum for the first time in eight years, to K-pop bands XG, Aespa, and Itzy visiting the city but also stand-up shows and events for food lovers: there’s something for everybody, and don’t worry—most of these will be indoors and away from the scorching sun.

1. Aespa’s Synk: Parallel Line tour in Hong Kong

When: August 3-4

Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

What: This is probably the most-anticipated K-pop concert of 2024 in Hong Kong. Following the release of its album Armageddon (2024), Aespa is kicking off its second world tour Synk: Parallel Line in Seoul, and will go to 14 cities across Asia and Australia.

2. Jordan Leung’s low energy stand-up comedy World Tour

When: August 1-3

Where: Macpherson Stadium, 38 Nelson Street, Mong Kok, Hong Kong

What: Hong Kong stand-up comedian Jordan Leung comes back to the city after smashing a global tour, which included sold out shows in Canada, the US, London and Australia. In his hometown, he’ll perform a show in English on August 1 and in Cantonese on August 2 and 3.

3. Itzy’s Born to Be Tour in Hong Kong

When: August 10

Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

What: Itzy is coming back to Hong Kong with its Born to Be world tour. Prepare to sing some of its latest hits, such as Untouchable (2024) and Mr Vampire (2024).

4. Clothes and vinyl swap with Colony Kids and Top Swop at Terrible Baby

When: August 10

Where: Terrible Baby, 4/F, Eaton HK, 380 Nathan Road, Jordan

What: Dust off those vinyls and dig out your coolest threads! Join Colony Kids and Top Swop at Terrible Baby, Eaton HK, for a weekend of swopping. Swap your pre-loved records or find yourself a fresh new outfit. Just so you know: the Top Swop is ticketed, but the record swap is free to join! 

5. All That Glitters’ hip-hop night at Soho House

When: August 10

Where: Soho House, 33 Des Voeux Road, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

What: Get ready for an unforgettable night at Soho House! All That Glitters HK presents a hip-hop night featuring Wesley Jaminson, Keminal Kriss and many more artists, who will celebrate fashion and hip-hop with live performances and DJ sets. Soho House memberships aren’t necessary for this event.

6. XG’s The First Howl Tour in Hong Kong

When: August 13

Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

What: XG, the Japanese girl group based in South Korea, which recently made headlines with its single Woke Up (2024), has announced new stops on its The First Howl tour which includes Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. 

7. Aaron Kwok’s Iconic World Tour

When: August 13-19, 20-25, 27

Where: Hong Kong Coliseum, 9 Cheong Wan Road, Hung Hom Bay, Hong Kong

What: Canto-pop idol Aaron Kwok finally returns to the Hong Kong Coliseum after eight years. Warm your vocal cords and be ready to sing Kwok’s most iconic songs.

8. Utada Hikaru’s Science Fiction Tour in Hong Kong

When: August 17-18

Where: AsiaWorld-Arena, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

What: Japanese singer Utada Hikaru’s first Hong Kong performance has been confirmed. She will pass by the city for her first-ever tour in Hong Kong, called Science Fiction.

9. Hong Kong Food Expo

When: August 15-19

Where: Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai, Hong Kong

What: This August, taste your way around the world at the Hong Kong Food Expo. This is the perfect way to bring back home international delicacies—without boarding a flight.

10. Gulf Kanawut’s fan meeting in Hong Kong

When: August 23

Where: To be announced

What: Beloved Thai actor and Tatler Hong Kong July cover star Gulf Kanawut is coming back to the city to meet his fans. Be ready to witness his heart-melting smile this time around. The venue is yet to be announced, so stay tuned.

11. (G)-idle’s i-Dol tour in Hong Kong and Macau

When: August 24-25 (Hong Kong) and October 26-27 (Macau)

Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong; Galaxy Macau Integrated Resort, Cotai, Macau

What: K-pop girl group (G)i-dle has announced the cities and dates for its i-Dol world tour, featuring concerts in Asia, the US and Australia. It’ll perform both in Hong Kong and Macau, so make sure to get your tickets for (at least) one of the shows. 

12. Connan Gray’s Heaven on Tour in Hong Kong

When: August 27

Where: AsiaWorld-Expo, 1 Airport Expo Blvd, Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

What: Pop star Conan Gray is coming to Hong Kong for his Found Heaven on Tour, as well as eight other cities from around Asia. The Asia tour kicks off on August 23 at LaLaLa Festival in Jakarta, before coming to Manila, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka.

13. Jai Hind! A Bollywood Bliss Extravaganza at Maggie Choo’s

When: August 29

Where: Maggie Choo’s, G/F, Chinachem Hollywood Centre, Hollywood Rd, Central

What: To celebrate India’s Independence Day, Maggie Choo’s is bringing back another edition of Bollywood Bliss, which promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and energy to honour the vibrant culture and captivating rhythms of Bollywood. From 9pm until late, dance and sing along to DJ Raz’s beats as he plays Bollywood’s biggest hits. Come dressed in your most glamorous attire.
