Postponement of the concert

The tour, originally scheduled from 14 to 30 July 2023, was postponed for a year after Sammi Cheng suffered from Covid-19 last May. The artist once revealed on social media that she was struggling to fully recover her physical strength and vocal condition despite her meticulous preparations and excitement for the concert. Rather than compromising the show’s quality, she made this difficult decision out of respect for her dedicated fans.

Active training for the concert

After a seven-month hiatus to recuperate from her illness, Cheng started to rehearse for her concert. Over the past few months, she has been sharing on social media regular updates from her fitness journey, vocal training progress, and dance rehearsal. She utilised her free time to undergo Gua Sha therapy, a traditional Chinese technique of scraping the skin to improve circulation. She described her process as that of “a bride preparing for her awaited wedding”.

Captivating stage performances

In the concert, Cheng performs various notable anthems, from electro-pop Forgiveness (2009) to the award-winning ballad We Grew This Way (2019). In one segment, the artist pays tribute to her illustrious acting career by performing a medley of 11 iconic songs from films in which she also starred as the lead actress. This marks a significant milestone for Cheng, who has been nominated for the Best Actress Award at the Hong Kong Film Awards seven times over the past 23 years before finally earning the prestigious accolade last year with the film Lost Love (2023).
