Here’s what you missed:
The founders of independent art advisory company, Art Bureau, Ed Tang and Jonathan Cheung and members of the Tate International Council hosted the creative community for an intimate soirée at The China Club.
The event was in honour of Maria Balshaw, the director of British art institution, Tate, who had flown in for art week. The event took place early in the art week schedule—and perfect timing too—before the madness of the Art Basel fair and all the afterparties kicked off. Touching speeches by Balshaw, council member Andreas Kurtz, Cheung and Tang set the tone for the evening—which was filled with camaraderie and admiration of one another.
Notable faces among the crowd included Ed Tang’s sister, Victoria Tang-Owen, Alan Lo, Princess Alia Al-Senussi, Dee Poon and Uli Sigg, who were on hand to support Balshaw and other members of the art community in Hong Kong.
