With a global profile as an art advisor, Ed Tang hopes to assist people through the complex business of acquiring art, with a particular focus on younger collectors. He set up Art-Bureau with his business partner Jonathan Cheung, who is a co-founder of Buzz Agency Hong Kong and is now a partner and executive director in Occasions Asia Pacific Group; they also collaborate with galleries and other institutions on exhibitions and a range of other events.

A collector himself, Tang notched up a rare achievement by working for all three of the world’s biggest auction houses—Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Phillips—by the age of 30. The son of David Tang, of Shanghai Tang fame, Ed has been an ambassador for Tate Young Patrons, a member of Tate’s Asia-Pacific acquisitions committee, a founding co-chair of the Whitechapel Gallery First Futures group and a founding member of Asia Art Archive’s Women in Art History Fund.

Tang is married to former Sotheby’s executive John Auerbach.
