The Arts

Jonathan Cheung

Through his latest venture, The Art Bureau, Jonathan Cheung is guiding a new generation of emerging art collectors.

Profile

Jonathan Cheung—or JC as he’s more widely known—made a name for himself as the co-founder of Buzz Agency Hong Kong and partner and executive director of Occasions Asia Pacific Group, which host some of the city’s most exclusive and sought-after parties and events.

Cheung expanded his repertoire in May 2021 with a new venture, Art-Bureau Advisory, a consulting service with a focus on guiding a new generation of emerging art collectors, which he co-founded with longtime friend and fellow art aficionado, Ed Tang.

It’s a natural next step for Cheung, who is heavily involved in the arts. He sits on the Asia-Pacific Acquisition Committee for Tate and the Council of Serpentine Galleries, and is a founding patron of M+. Cheung is also a trustee of Design Trust Hong Kong and a founding member of the Asian Art Archive Women in History Fund.

“[Art in] Asia, and Hong Kong in particular, is growing. It’s more important and vibrant than ever.”
