Hong Kong artist Lau Hiu-tung’s first solo exhibition is named after and inspired by French surrealist photographer Claude Cahun’s 1927 self-portrait, which explores the relationship between gender and performance. Expanding Cahun’s idea to modern gym culture, Lau explores gender tropes and representation. The gallery space is transformed into a “gym”, where a performance artist will present some of her works alongside Lau’s gym-inspired pieces.

Inspired by his childhood, British artist Felix Treadwell enjoys painting fictional characters, animals and fantastical creatures in his soft-rendered paintings. However, these apparently light-hearted subjects carry a darker meaning, as he reflects on adolescent vulnerability and conformity in his work. His first solo show in Hong Kong presents recent pieces which depict grown-up characters in their daily job routines and hobbies, making a comment on how far we have evolved since prehistoric times and exploring subjects such as fragility, mortality and loneliness.
