Art Central, one of the biggest art events in Hong Kong has been postponed to May 26–29, 2022 due to the extension of the current social distancing restrictions until April. It was originally scheduled to take place from March 23–26. The seventh edition will still take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

Continuing in its mission to showcase the next generation of talent from Asia’s most innovative galleries alongside distinguished artists, there will be over 40 galleries across four participation sectors for the event. This year, special attention will be given to the work of artists living and working in Hong Kong.

Four days will be open to the public while a VIP preview will be held on May 25, before the official opening. Tickets will go on sale in March.

Applications are now open for Made in Hong Kong, an exhibition showcasing the work of Hong Kong-based artists without gallery representation. This is a new initiative for Art Central 2022 where an exhibition will be staged to highlight the works.

Art Basel was scheduled to coincide with Art Central but due to the ongoing impact of the pandemic, has also shifted to May 2022.
