With international travel restrictions still on the cards, most of us will be spending another Christmas in Hong Kong.

1. Christmas Joy House, Landmark

This year, Landmark Atrium’s Christmas display is a collection of toys from various generations. Called Christmas Joy House, a family of characters has been created especially for the holiday season. You can enjoy a variety of activities inside such as the Slinkly Slide, a fun, interactive game and the Dinoshuan Challenge, where you can complete a range of Christmas-themed missions.

There will also be three digital experiences for you to get your hands on, an interactive VR ride called Star Dash, Just Pose! which is a doll box photo booth and another game called Bauble Rush.

2. Orient Express, ifc mall

This Christmas, ifc mall is joining hands with the legendary Orient Express to transport every visitor to a world of wonder and festivity—perfect as international travel is still restricted and many of us are spending Christmas in Hong Kong.

At the Orient Express is coming to town Christmas display, you will get to embark on a railroad journey from the present to the past, from East to West and recreate your Christmas travel memories right here in Hong Kong.

This Christmas, Pacific Place is inviting all travel enthusiasts for a trip to their Christmas display called Mt Christmas Resort. Inspired by an alpine retreat, it’s hosted by Santa and the adorable Yeti family.

Feel like you’re on a snow getaway and experience a range of happenings including children’s activities and live performances.

4. Jingle All the Rail, Mira Place

Another mall inviting guests to a romantic European Christmas train station called Jungle All the Rail.

With magical check in spots available, visitors will surely indulge in the European Christmas atmosphere including the Christmas stream train, the seven-metre-tall ticket office and the exclusive collaboration with the champagne brand, G.H. Mumm for the first four-metre-tall Champagne Christmas tree in Hong Kong.

Just in time for the long-awaited launch of Disney+ in Hong Kong, Olympian City is treating the city’s Disney fans. There are five different story zones, each themed on a Disney classic such as The Lion King, Dumbo, Peter Pan and Pinocchio.

Fans can take photos with the larger-than-life installations and interactive games around Olympian City. Designed as a fairy-tale library, you can see your favourite Disney characters as if they’re coming to life.

6. A Magical Snowy Christmas, Tuen Mun Town Plaza

A few other malls in Hong Kong are doing Disney-themed Christmas installations. Tmtplaza is showcasing its first-ever Hong Kong Disneyland Resort-themed display called A Magical Snowy Christmas. Here, a 7.5-metre-tall replica of the Castle of Magical Dreams stands at the centre. There will also be dazzling lighting effects and romantic artificial snow shows on designated dates.

Inside, visitors can enjoy numerous themed figurine installations including well-loved Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy—all dressed in Christmas-themed outfits. You can also spend some fun time at the game booths and take home Disney-themed prizes.

Frozen fans, rejoice! Citywalk is bringing the highest-grossing Disney animated film of all time to Hong Kong this Christmas.

The event hall transforms into a Frozen Christmas Village, recreating Elsa and her magnificent ice palace with Anna on the ice staircase. Meanwhile, Olaf will be bringing a pop-store store featuring Frozen merchandise and fun workshops for visitors to enjoy.

8. Disney Princesses Christmas Ball, Lee Tung Avenue

Lee Tung Avenue is rolling the red carpet for Disney Princesses and covering the entire shopping street with festive decorations. The atrium transforms into a glamorous ballroom, fit for the princesses.

There will be a music and light show playing classic songs from Disney movies together with Christmas carols on November 27–28, December 4–5, 11–12, 18–26, 30–31 and January 1–2. There will also be a 10-metre-tall Christmas tree installed in the atrium for visitors to take photos of.

Tsim Sha Tsui will light up this Christmas season! The walls of Tsim Sha Tsui Centre and Empire Centre facing Victoria Harbour features 82,000 colour-changing LED bulbs and will show a stunning animation display featuring six iconic Disney+ brands.

Over at Mody Lane, Christmas lights will show characters from four Disney+ brands, notably Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.

Miffy is coming to town to celebrate Christmas with Hongkongers. Bringing Nordic style to Moko New Century Plaza, the mall will feature a three-metre-tall Miffy statue to greet everyone.

In addition, there will be an art village which includes an outdoor children’s playground and a climbing wall for visitors to try.

The adorable Kakao Friends are dropping by Plaza Hollywood this Christmas, all dressed in festive costumes. Famous characters such as Ryan, Apeach, Tube, Coin, Muzi, Neo & Frodo as well as Jay-G will join Choonsik to celebrate a fun Christmas.

Citygate Outlets is another mall bringing the European Christmas spirit to Hong Kong with its Jolly Christmas Market display. Partnering with a German handicraft brand Wendt & Kühn, the displays at Citygate Outlets invite you to hunt for hidden treasures in a digital interactive game.

Get your cameras ready at seven photo spots such as the 6.5-metre-tall Christmas tree, the Christmas archway and the Christmas tree garden.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the popular cartoon, Crayon Shin, MCP Central in Tseung Kwan O is bringing a thematic installation to Hongkongers this Christmas.

Called Crayon Shinchan x Chocolate Rain Winter Fun, the thematic display welcomes visitors to six tourist attractions recreated after Japan for a joyful, holiday season. Some of these locations include the iconic Mount Fuji, the Oshi Castle in Saitama Prefecture, the hot springs in Beppu and the Shirakawa village in Gifu.

14. Whimsical Wonderland, Discovery Bay

From Discovery Bay pier to Discovery Bay Plaza, you will see Christmas wreaths to sparkling lights, colourful garlands and festive decorations. The Whimsical Wonderland display will feature an eight-metre-tall Christmas tree, gigantic mushrooms, poker cards and other larger-than-life elements.

Over at Discovery Bay North, you can find a five-metre-tall playful teaware with a Christmas tree and other inviting set-ups. Another not-to-miss spot is the Locks Promenade decorated especially for the festive season.

This Christmas, YM2 Yue Man Square invites British animator, James Curran to present its display, Merry GIFmas to town.

Curran is known for reviving life experiences into GIF animators. This time, he has made a whimsical Christmas display including a Christmas tree, giant turkey oven and an outdoor glasshouse.

16. Autumn Maple Leaves, Harbour North

Seeing Japan’s autumn foliage? Come over next to Harbour North at the North Point Promenade and see the area transformed into a land of autumn colours.

Here, you can see the vibrant shades of red, orange, yellow, green and brown. The spot is inspired by Arashiyama in Kyoto and has a replica of the popular sightseeing train, the Sagano Romantic Train.

17. Christmas Terminal, Harbour City

The theme of this year’s Christmas display at Harbour City is Christmas Terminal and visitors will be able to see the forecourt Ocean Terminal as a Christmas cookies terminal.

A group of cookie-shaped animals are gathering at the Ocean Terminal forecourt and visitors will be able to enjoy photo taking services and cookie-shaped souvenirs. If you miss travel, the display at Harbour City will surely let you relive that experience.

18. Unboxing Christmas, Lok Fu Place

Lok Fu Place has always pride in its vision of promoting a healthy lifestyle so this year, they are presenting an array of enriching and uplighting activities as part of its Unboxing Christmas campaign.

This includes a five-metre-tall Christmas tree where visitors can also choose their favourite colours and have these analysed by psychologist Peter Chan. For those looking for an Instagrammable post, there will be a photo backdrop using chromatic light and shadow to create a ‘treerapeutic’ experience.

Other experiences include the vibrant cottages, luscious candy room, shiny gold installation, iridescent neon light wall and rainbow in the dark photo spot.

19. My Sparkling Christmas, Festival Walk

Festival Walk becomes a magical wonderland filled with incredible lighting designed by Belgian artist, Alain Dierick. Displayed in Hong Kong for the first time, Dierick’s sparkling lighting designs shimmer and glisten just in time for the festive season.

At the centre of the eye-catching illumination is a 12-metre-tall palace that boasts over 100,000 LED pin lights. The installation also has a jewel-encrusted crown, a diamond ring, a gorgeous gown dress and a glittering high heel worthy of any Christmas fairy tale.

Adding on to the festive season are reindeer welcoming guests. Over at the ground floor, there will also be a Christmas carriage, a harp and a tree festooned in lights.

20. A Dazzling Christmas, Tseung Kwan O Plaza

TKO Plaza has always valued the environment and local art scene—showcased through its festive installations. This year, they have partnered with local architects—Arnold Wong, Keith Chan and Stephen Ip who are graduates of HKU’s Faculty of Architecture—to transform upcycled glass into a magical display.

The plaza is bringing a Christmas glass village comprised of a 30-metre-long canopy of Northern Lights crafted from over 10,000 recycled bottle caps as well as a dazzling igloo constructed from over 1,000 pieces of upcycled glass.

The architects are also participants in the Venice Architecture Biennale and created a rainbow-coloured bench made of 24 pieces of recycled glass bricks to invite visitors to sit down and appreciate the displays from different angles. They are able to see how light refracts in fascinating patterns and strokes.

21. The Christmas Village, K11 Musea

All across Europe and even in neighbouring countries such as Japan and South Korea are all lighting up for Luminarie or illuminations. The traditional festival of lights have always captured the joyous seasonal celebrations but due to travel restrictions, we’re most likely spending our Christmas in Hong Kong again.

K11 Musea is bringing a majestic Christmas village to the city this year with its pop-up which honours the history, craftsmanship and techniques of talented artisans. The entrance of the pop-up is a showstopping archway, designed as a homage to the Luminarie festival that began in Italy during the Renaissance and even spread to Kobe, Taipei and more.

22. Merry GIFTmas, Cityplaza

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the beloved animated movie, Cityplaza is hosting the first-ever Monsters Inc. Christmas-themed display. Join Sulley and Mike to harvest “live happy” power and save the beloved Monsters Inc. characters from their power crisis.

The display is as interactive as it can get. Visitors will need to go through various challenges which start from making your own exclusive staff ID and taking the Christmas wishes sorting test. Then, you’ll need to rearrange gifts in a memory test, find the missing gifts and then become a full-time Monsters Inc. employee. How fun!

23. A Furry Merry Christmas, 1881 Heritage

This Christmas, 1881 Heritage is turning into a European-style Christmas forest, rich in colourful installations. A 12-metre-tall display is showcased at the centre, featuring a squirrel family in different poses as well as flower decors.

On the other side, there will be festive lights making the whole site feel dreamier. Around the venue, there will be Christmas-themed arches where you can spot the squirrels sitting on the tree trunks.

24. The Peninsula

Welcome the holiday season at The Peninsula Hong Kong’s dazzling festive decorations which are inspired by the constellations. Bringing you glittering lights, the installation marks an exclusive collaboration with fashion house, Chanel to honour both the brand’s heritage and legacy of timeless elegance.

25. Mostown x One Piece Sweets Christmas

Mostown is celebrating the 1000th episode and upcoming 25th anniversary of iconic Japanese anime, One Piece this Christmas. With that, they will feature a seven-metre-tall private ship and beloved characters dressed up in never-before-seen costumes.

There will be seven exhibition zones on the private ship which includes a pudding-inspired Usopp at the gate, Luffy and Brook at the concierge, Robin at a floral-themed selfie spot and more.

For Luffy fans, you can also see a seven-metre-tall Luffy statue in the atrium of the mall which kickstarts the animation’s Asia travelling exhibition. Remember to take selfies with Luffy while he’s in town.

26. The Sparkling Wonderland, Times Square

Times Square is joining forces with local artist and toy designer, Pucky to bring a new kind of festive display this holiday season. The outdoor area of Times Square is transformed into an enchanting Christmas forest made of over 50 luminous and wooden Christmas trees.

Past the seven-metre-tall tress is a house, reminiscent of a Christmas house in the forest. Here, you can see a fireplace and six Pucky sketches on the wall.

At the centre of the display is an eye-catching galactical cat, surrounded by over 300 space beanies of varying sizes. Inside the mall is Pucky’s solo exhibition which has over 500 pieces of original artwork including six limited editions of Christmas Pucky characters.
