Holidays are best celebrated with gifts of all colours and sizes! Below are creative ways to make your wrappers more special

The nights have become longer, the temperature is a bit cooler, and lights are gleaming everywhere you go . . . it is true that time flies and you're spending the most joyous year-end celebration again: Christmas!

While Christmas spirit can be felt with or without the exciting gifts, there are those who prefer to make their loved ones feel special by rummaging shops for the best and biggest surprise. But when did Christmas gift-giving begin anyway?

Many historians claim that the process of sending gifts has its roots in pagan rituals held every wintertime. When Christianity adapted these rituals during Christmas, the bearing of gifts was suddenly redirected to the Three Kings (Three Wise Men) who gave presents to the infant Jesus.

There are plenty of plain gift bags you can get in malls and department stores nearby! Don't be afraid to add your personal touch to these loots.

Get crafty by getting all your colourful pens and doodling on top of your plain gift bag; you may also want to put a variety of stickers that best describe the receiver of the gift!

2. Get Creative With Ribbons

Ribbons vary in design, size, and colours. When choosing one for your gift, always pick the ones that compliment your wrapper well.

If the wrapper has strong colours, pick ribbons that have muted tones. If the gift is small, consider picking ribbons that are smaller than the gift. At the end of the day, it's always about presentation.

3. Put a memorable letter or gift card

All gifts are memorable, but nothing else will make them more special than the letters attached to them. Consider attaching a small note or a page full of reasons why your loved one matters. Don't be afraid to pour your heart out!

If you're not a big fan of words and letters, take time to pick the freshest, best-smelling flowers in the nearest plant shop.

Tatler Tip: Dried flowers are best for gift-giving. They usually last an average of one year when put in ideal locations.

5. You can use fabrics
