Discover the aesthetic of living with Vatanyu Tantivong as he decodes Sansiri’s timeless design DNA, defining a new era of luxury rooted in sustainable living values
In an era where luxury definitions evolve at breakneck speed, Tatler Homes sits down with Gain Vatanyoo Tantiwong, Vice President of Aesthetics & Interior Design at Sansiri Public Company Limited. Seated in the Lobby Lounge of Via 34, Gain shares the design vision and philosophy behind Sansiri’s commitment to turning living environments into enduring works of art.
How do you define the Sansiri DNA today, and how do you navigate fleeting design trends?
Sansiri’s DNA rests upon a simple yet profound motto: ‘Constructing Life... Not Just Building.’ Across forty years, our practice has focused on meticulous craft and timeless design that ages with quiet grace. We actively avoid short-lived trends destined to fade within a few seasons; our goal is to deliver architecture that retains its beauty and intrinsic value across decades.
Our greatest challenge lies in curating living experiences rather than merely erecting physical structures. Every corner must offer privacy, comfort, and a lasting sense of pride for residents. We design looking five to ten years ahead, accommodating shifting lifestyles among younger generations. Today, a home serves multi-layered roles—functioning simultaneously as a connected workspace, a wellness sanctuary, and a private gallery for art and passion collections. Crucially, visual beauty must be matched by exemplary long-term property management to preserve value over time.

How has your perception of 'luxury' shifted, and what defines 'authentic aesthetics' in contemporary living?
Luxury today has shifted away from lavish material displays toward the genuine 'value of living.' This concept embraces two key dimensions. First, a home must care for its occupants—fostering daily physical and emotional comfort while securing long-term asset value. Second, it embodies 'livable beauty'—a carefully curated environment tailored to every family member's lifestyle, including dedicated spaces for passion investments. From architecture and landscaping to interior curation, every detail is considered to evoke deep emotional resonance and shared family memories.
Sansiri’s portfolio spans condominiums, landed estates, and master-planned communities. How do you tailor design strategies across varied formats while preserving Sansiri’s signature identity?
We focus deeply on understanding the daily rituals of future occupants and their surrounding context, transforming abstract spaces into vibrant living environments that cater to diverse households—from young couples and nuclear families to multi-generational households and pet owners.
For high-rise condominiums, we emphasize contemporary lines and space efficiency suited to urban rhythms. Landed residences focus on warmth, material tactile qualities, and sustainable textures. In master-planned developments, we prioritize lush green corridors and shared community spaces. What unifies every project as uniquely Sansiri is our signature touch: grand entrance gates, curated sculptural art, welcoming clubhouses, signature ambient scents, attentive service, and an unmistakable atmosphere that feels like home.

How do you balance form and function, particularly during debates between design and commercial teams?
Form and function are interdependent. Striking visual form sparks an initial emotional connection, while thoughtful functionality delivers daily comfort. The finest design works seamlessly—delivering effortless utility without drawing attention to itself.
Debates between design and commercial teams refine the final outcome. When balancing budgets against high-level craftsmanship on iconic developments, my approach follows 'the art of compromise, not quality.' We protect the final result through design-led business thinking—prioritizing key signature statements that convey Sansiri’s core DNA without compromising standards.
Sansiri frequently collaborates with world-renowned designers. What criteria guide these partnerships, and what insights have you adopted from global standards?
We begin by profiling the resident’s lifestyle before selecting partners who share our commitment to quality living. Mutual trust allows us to execute world-class projects—such as our collaboration with Molteni&C or our iconic SKV51 condominium project with a leading Italian designer.
Collaborating with global design masters offers valuable perspective. Rather than asking how to make a space look attractive, they ask how to elevate the living experience. Their methodology grounds every decision—functional, emotional, and sensory—in clear reasoning. It’s not about novelty for its own sake, but about crafting 'one-of-a-kind' residences that stand as design statements for thirty to forty years.

How do you manage creative teams while maintaining commercial discipline?
Sansiri fosters an open culture that welcomes fresh ideas. My leadership approach centers on 'freedom within a framework'—offering full creative latitude while respecting commercial boundaries defined by time, cost, and quality. Designers explore freely, but decisions must align with schedules, stay within budget constraints, and maintain quality standards.
On a personal level, I thrive under constructive challenges—they stimulate fresh creative energy. Whenever fatigue sets in, I remind the team that if we’ve given our best effort, we accept the outcome, learn, and wake up determined to push creative boundaries further the following day.
