Dine: Baby Brasa

For tipples and some light bites, Lynn Ban and Jett Kain bring Blake Abbie for a catch-up at a Latin American joint, Baby Brasa. Inspired by the Peruvian and European roots of celebrity chef and Masterchef judge Franco Noriega, the restaurant designed by Wid Chapman Architects celebrates his culture and original dishes with its casual yet tropical design elements from bespoke walnut slatted wood-finished walls, tropical leaf murals, linen-wrapped ceiling panels, rattan light fixtures, wood fans, and lush greenery.

Dorothy Wang and Tina Leung took their blind dates at the trendy Slate NY, a nightlife destination in the heart of Chelsea. Designed by New York-based ADG Architecture and Design, the 16,000 sq ft venue takes over two storeys and is almost like a neon-lit playground for adults with its array of activities like karaoke, pool, ping-pong, bowling, live events, and more; there is even a 6m-long slide for guests to try.

To cheer Leung up, Hung brought the fashion influencer to Dogma to indulge in some tender puppy loving. Founded by Jun Takama with the help of Nina Perez, who brings expertise in dog boarding, the women-owned dog care centre hopes to comfort every pet and patron with its friendly, clean, and spacious environment while being surrounded by furry friends.

Dine: Somewhere Nowhere NYC

Ringing in the festivities of the Lunar New Year and at the same time raising money for pancreatic cancer research, Richard Chang’s philanthropic affair took place at Somewhere Nowhere NYC, a trendy indoor lounge and open-air rooftop pool venue. Located atop the Renaissance New York Chelsea Hotel’s 38th and 39th floors, the project was completed in 2021 by New York-based architecture and design firm Stonehill Taylor, who reimagined the hotel’s charming look and ‘secret garden’ inspiration throughout the architecture and interiors.

Operated by El Grupo SN, the 5,150 sq ft multipurpose space features wooden ceiling beams and flora that takes over the 20 ft tall walls, state-of-the-art KV2 Audio Speakers, and a dazzling array of fantasy-spurring decor from neon signage and lanterns, to curated bespoke artworks of gnomes and fireflies.

Dine: Nomo Kitchen

For an afternoon treat, the cast members tucked into a decadent meal in Nomo Kitchen’s Rose Garden, which serves up an American-style farm-to-table menu. Part of the luxury Nomo Soho hotel, the Nomo Kitchen is housed in a 2,800 sq ft glass conservatory with huge chandeliers and roses that mirror nostalgic design elements from Jean Cocteau’s 1946 French film, La Belle et la Bête.

Celebrating the launch of Lynn Ban’s jewellery collection, the designer chose to throw a photoshoot-meets-fashion soirée at the timeless yet cool Indochine outpost in New York—loved by the likes of New York Fashion Week goers and the sartorial crowd from supermodel Naomi Campbell to Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn.

With a history that dates back to 1984 and saw artist Andy Warhol at its opening, the French-Vietnamese restaurant continues to be a hot favourite with the help of owner Jean-Marc Houmard (who bought the establishment in 1992). Its interiors combine rattan decor with palm motifs that lend a sense of tropical style and cosiness to this iconic spot.

For a date with his beau, Chang brought Abbyaeva to the quaint Loulou for a candlelight dinner date. Understated and charming with its French fare and ambience, the bistro and speakeasy is filled with beautiful flowers, wooden accents and plush booths for diners to enjoy. Fun fact: the restaurant is named after the owner Mathias Van Leyden’s beloved rescue dog.

Cozying up for some fine dining, the Bling Empire: New York crew heads off to Estiatorio Milos, where they indulge in Greek fine dining. Designed by Montreal-based Montreal-based firm, Alain Carle Architects together with New York-based Dyami Architecture & Interior Architecture, its modern design seeks to bring out the simplicity and freshness of the food through its use of clean undulating lines and minimalist colour palette. Highlights include the white steel and Pentelic marble-clad spiral staircase, which connects to the wine bar on the fifth floor and the main restaurant on the sixth floor.

Going big for one of their first gatherings in 2022, the fashionable art-loving couple Stephen and Deborah Hung threw their lavish “Surrealism X Haute Couture” bash at the Opera Gallery’s New York location. With roots in both the East and the West, the Opera Gallery was first established back in 1994 simultaneously in Paris and Singapore to showcase modern and contemporary works from groundbreaking artists like Yayoi Kusama and Picasso.

Exploring the city lights and sights, the Bling Empire: New York cast members bring Wang to the Edge Observation Deck to check out the city’s 360-degree panoramic skyline. At 100-storeys high, the towering skyscraper features modern-meets-art-deco architectural elements and was completed in March 2020 by the New York-based practice Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.

In the first introduction to show-runners Vika Abbyaeva and Richard Chang, we see the couple go for a swim inside The Marmara Park Avenue hotel. Besides the tranquil Wellness Centre that houses luxury facilities from a Turkish Hammam bathing room to Somadome meditation pods, the 21-story hotel has a longstanding history that dates back to 1927. Refreshed with contemporary and artisanal details, the hotel’s redesign in 2016 by Wisconsin-based CODAworx features 128 suites and guestrooms, including three penthouses that offer some of the best views of the New York City skyline and chic lounge bar, Tuti.

When the girls (plus Abbie) head on for their trip to the Bahamas, they live at large at luxury hospitality destination Baha Mar which houses three iconic hotel brands: the Rosewood, SLS, and the Grand Hyatt. During the trip, they play hard and enjoy incredible amenities within Baha Mar, such as the modern Japanese restaurant Katsuya, the Sky Bar, Baha Bay water park, and Baha Mar Casino touted as the largest in the Caribbean.
