King Living marks the 20th anniversary of its famous Jasper Sofa with a stylish new variant and innovative features
Classic furniture designs outlast trends, and are turned to time and time again even after transient fads fade away. The award-winning Jasper Sofa by Australian brand King Living has been a firm favourite among fans of luxurious, functional furnishings for over two decades: no mean feat for a contemporary couch in this age of fast furniture and mass-produced items. Backed by the brand campaign, “Something Worth Keeping”, the best-selling King Living modular sofa represents the very best of Australian design, underpinned by values such as durability and timeless good looks.
First launched in 2003, the Jasper soon won over discerning homeowners with its clean lines, sturdy build, and ability to transform to suit any style and space. Its positioning as the “fundamental backdrop to family moments all around the world” helped establish its status as an Australian design classic built on unrivalled comfort and supreme functionality. It wasn’t long before the Jasper Sofa started picking up accolades at various awards shows, including the Australian Furniture Awards and the Good Design Award, thanks to its effortless meld of traditional handcrafted construction and innovative elements.

Chief among the Jasper’s many enviable attributes is its modular flexibility: a patented component connecting system lets users reconfigure the sofa into various arrangements, even a guest bed for when a visitor comes calling. The couch can also be customised with concealed storage, shelving, a TV console and smart accessories such as an LED reading light, speaker bracket and wireless charging table. The cushion and module covers can also be easily removed for cleaning or replacement in over 200 choices of premium fabrics or luxurious European leathers.

Rather than rest on its proverbial laurels, King Living stresses constant improvement as part of its brand DNA. “We are not satisfied to just make a design and move on. We work on that design over the years, and we improve it,” declares founder David King, adding that “the Jaspers we are making today are the best we have ever made”.
Every Jasper Sofa is supported by a steel frame with a 25-year guarantee, PostureFlex suspension system and premium cushioning with KingCell pocket springs. Every component, from the steel frame to the removable covers, is fully recyclable and made to order at state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities of King Living.
True to his word, this year sees the debut of the Jasper Curve: a curved corner unit with a rounded backrest that was released to commemorate the collection’s 20th anniversary. The new module jazzes up the original iconic design and enables even more dynamic configurations. Also new to the Jasper Sofa in 2023 is a Premium Firm cushion option so users can adjust their seating comfort to their preference. The wireless charging timber shelving has also been upgraded to incorporate Light-Charge technology, which uses touch-operated LED lighting to create a subtle ambient glow while you power up your smartphone. With these updates, the Jasper has been reframed in an even more contemporary lens that remains respectful of its legacy.
