Within this Lentor Modern apartment, Bloooprint Studio balances a polished aesthetic with elements suited to the practical demands of daily family life

Measuring 1,528 sq ft, this apartment in Singapore’s Ang Mo Kio district had to accommodate the realities of family life without losing the sense of openness its owner had admired in a showflat. For Vivian Wang, principal designer of Bloooprint Studio, the challenge lay in editing: how to incorporate substantial storage and smart-home functions within a four-bedroom residence while keeping the interiors visually light.

That answer could be found in a restrained approach to materiality and proportion. Rather than treating storage as an afterthought, Wang integrated cabinetry into the architecture, maintaining clean lines across the apartment. Solid volumes are offset by lighter surfaces and selectively positioned mirrors, which serve to extend the perception of space without inadvertently turning the interiors into a study in reflectivity.

The resulting abode feels polished without becoming precious, which was a distinction that mattered to the homeowner from the outset. “The brief centred on balancing practicality with visual lightness,” says Wang. Storage had to be generous but discreet, circulation comfortable, and the material palette sophisticated without feeling overly formal.

Polished restraint

That sense of lightness is particularly apparent in the living and dining areas, where the ceiling treatment has been kept deliberately slim. Instead, Wang uses strategic lighting to introduce definition and atmosphere without visually lowering the room.

Dimmable lighting from Sol Luminaire allows the spaces to shift with the rhythms of the day, from brighter illumination for daytime activities to a softer ambience in the evenings. Smart-home integration extends this sense of ease, allowing illumination and other functions to work around the family’s routines rather than demand attention.

The living room’s television wall provides a stronger material statement. A surface originally selected for the top of the TV console was later changed to a Cosentino finish during the design process, chosen for its visual refinement as well as its durability and practicality. That choice became a focal point without overwhelming this space, reinforcing the project’s predilection for material quality over decorative excess.

Built-in balance

The same discipline carries through to the kitchen and dining area, where the cabinetry and finishes are composed to maintain visual continuity. Here, storage is present in abundance, but does not dominate the architecture. It is a recurring strategy throughout the apartment: useful functions are absorbed into the overall composition, leaving the spaces themselves to breathe.

Wang credits the homeowner’s trust as an important part of achieving this. Rather than prescribing individual finishes or treating each room as a separate exercise, the design team was able to work towards a unified atmosphere, refining proportions, materials and details as the project developed.

That trust also allowed the team to make changes when a better solution emerged. The switch to the Cosentino surface is just one example of how the process remained responsive to the broader design intent.

Mood and material

In the master bedroom, the approach becomes more intimate. The apartment’s polished language continues, but with an emphasis on comfort. Across the home, lighting, finishes and proportions have been calibrated to create continuity between the more public living spaces and the private zones.

It is an approach that reflects Bloooprint Studio’s wider philosophy, which focuses on balancing aesthetics with functionality and personal needs. For this project, that meant resisting the temptation to equate luxury with more: more finishes, more features, more visual drama. Instead, the apartment finds its true character in that which has been carefully controlled.

Completed in May 2026 after a three-month interior design-and-build process, the home makes a persuasive case for restraint as a form of luxury. Its sophistication comes through in the carefully selected details, but its success is also ultimately measured by something more prosaic: how comfortably it accommodates the life happening within it.
