This statement culinary space impresses with its bold use of marble and emerald tones, accompanied by a sleek suite of Fisher & Paykel appliances
In Melbourne’s peaceful Malvern East suburb stands an elegant home that is the pride and joy of its owners. Dubbed the Malvern House, this project by Australian firm Lande Architects marries its well-preserved Victorian-era elements with contemporary touches, creating an abode that is superbly connected to its verdant surroundings.
A modern extension was added to the rear of the house to expand the abode’s footprint, while creating an airy, light-filled interior that looks out to the calming views of the garden. This beautiful pavilion wraps around an internal courtyard and houses the open-plan living and dining areas. The striking kitchen is the house’s most enchanting space, signifying the culinary zone’s growing importance in our homes.
Fitted with appliances from New Zealand brand Fisher & Paykel, this eye-catching zone boasts a rich palette of predominantly emerald-green tones and an impeccably detailed design that is both beautiful and functional.

The extensive use of green marble creates an unforgettable impact in the kitchen. To amplify its show-stopping look, a set of wood veneer and matte-lacquered cabinet doors is painted in a colour that matches the rich shades of the natural stone, while at the same time echoing the verdant hues of the lush greenery outside.
A skylight brings abundant sunlight into the space and plays up the intricate veins of the marble backsplash. Here, the Fisher & Paykel appliances are designed to make life better—the culinary apparatus are sleek and functional additions to the dramatic kitchen. The products selected include an induction cooktop that sinks into the countertop, its smooth lines barely discernible when it is not in use.

Similarly, the 60cm integrated hood is discreetly incorporated into the backsplash and cabinetry while providing excellent extraction performance as well as illumination courtesy of hidden energy-efficient LED strip lighting, which lights up the space when needed during the cooking process.
The architects also selected a 90cm integrated fridge, 60cm touchscreen ovens as well as the DishDrawer dishwasher from Fisher & Paykel. These innovative products are subtly integrated within the cabinetry and ensure a seamless visual flow throughout the open-plan culinary space.

Wooden furnishings in the adjacent dining area add warmth to the space while picking up on the timber applied to the walls and ceiling of the house. A pair of bar stools allows the kitchen island to double up as an informal breakfast nook and makes it easy for the owners to interact with their guests while working on the cooking preparation steps.
Aided by the thoughtful product design of Fisher & Paykel’s appliances, this harmony of materials, colours, and joinery demonstrates that modern conveniences and contemporary design can beautifully coexist.
