This year’s Tatler Homes Design Awards - Malaysia honoured an assemblage of modern eclectic design talents
The Tatler Homes Design Awards 2024, which took place on May 29, was a gathering of Malaysia’s close-knit architecture and design community in celebration of the exceptional talents and eclectic creativity in the industry.
Guests arrived in style, chauffeured in sleek Lotus Eletre cars to Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the venue sponsor for the night’s event, where attendees partook in a joyous affair over savoury hors d’oeuvres and bite-sized desserts, accompanied with drinks sponsored by Grant Burge of Accolade wines, Lillet Blanc and flavoursome kombuchas by Uncle Jeff Drinks.

The evening kicked off in earnest with speeches by Jennifer Choo, Tatler Homes, regional managing editor, and Gerrie Beh, Tatler Malaysia’s Managing Director, both expressing their delight in providing a platform for the local design talents and setting the stage for continued excellence in the industry.

With categories like Best Sustainable Design presented by Lotus, and Jotun for Best Use of Colour, seven winners for the Tatler Homes Design Awards 2024—Malaysia were then announced, each receiving trophies customised by Cosentino for the occasion.

WHBC Architects took home Best Architectural Concept for JJ House, IDent_3 the Designer on the Rise award, and Wooi Architect’s Oculus House secured Best Sustainable Design presented by Lotus.
Besides that, Studio BBB’s Wangsa Maju Penthouse won Best Interior Design, while Paul+Pris’ Tivoli Penthouse project clinched Best Use of Colour presented by Jotun; whereas the Best Show Unit award went to Nevermore Group for Marriott Penthouse, and AR Design and Interior claimed Best Innovative Design for its non-residential The Estate Hulu Rening project.

The winners were selected after much deliberation from the year’s esteemed panel of jurors, consisting of Andra Matin, Indonesian architect and Founder of Andra Matin; Lillian Tay, Group Vice President of Veritas Group; Shin Tseng, Director of Urban Agenda Design Group; as well as returning juries Dr Lai Siew Hong, Co-founder of Blu Water Studio; and Bee Eu Tan, Founder of BETA Architects.
Local singer/songwriter Dasha Logan took to the stage, and capped off the night with some ear-catching tunes.
