Addy Design, in collaboration with Tatler Homes created a relaxing enclave in The International Gallery at KLGCC Resort
The serious business of buying a home is best approached with a calm disposition and a clear mind. To create an environment conducive to thoughtful decision-making, Sime Darby Property partnered with Tatler Homes to curate a lounge.
Ensconced in a quiet corner of The International Gallery at KLGCC Resort, the site for the Tatler Homes Lounge had the benefit of having a bank of floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking lush greenery.
The space was then brought to life by Addy Consultant Sdn Bhd (ADC), the same design consultancy responsible for the polished design of M Resort just up the road.

“The concept of this lounge is best described as Nestled Oasis. When we were tasked with designing this lounge, we were briefed that this space was for a new development for a condo building located in KLGCC, and they wanted a space to have some private discussions and coffee whilst reviewing the property with their trusted agents,” recalls Addy Wong, founder of ADC.
Part of the brief was translating the brand values of Tatler Homes and Sime Darby Property into a physical space, a challenge Wong and his team undertook gracefully. “Both of these brands are well known in the market for ages. They are very reputable, and Tatler Homes always brings in the trendiest styles to all their readers. So we also had to be on the tip of every aspect,” muses Wong.

The metamorphosis of the space needed to be carried out without structural changes, so the designers relied on other means to create the desired effect. Colour, always a transformative device, was used to set the scene.
“We went with a cream colour base with touches of grey so that the area looked seamless compared to the rest of the space,” explains Wong. “We did not want the area to look out of place, but we wanted it to be so well. So that the area feels comfortable for guests to want to linger.”

To further bring in the environment in the space, the designers eschewed curtains for the windows and opted instead for sheers. “Using curtains would make the area look heavier, and we still wanted to have the natural sunlight shine through the entire lounge,” states Wong.
“Besides, we used a long carpet to show the entrance and flow to guide the guests. We had a free hand on the selections of rugs. Therefore, we selected blue-ish gold and cream colour-based rugs to bring out the area so it would not look dull. As for wall coverings, we chose a simple wallpaper to cover the existing storage area right next to it, as we wanted to make it a subtle wall.”

The furniture was all repurposed from existing inventory, and Wong explains how they mixed and matched the pieces to best meet their calming concept.
However, some custom pieces needed to be fabricated, which include the screens that define the space—a clever solution to create small pockets for discussion without appearing too visually heavy. A sleek bar with an eye-catching light fixture was also made to serve Bacha coffee in Noritake china for guests.

Styling the space was left to the Tatler Homes team, while sculptural wildflower arrangements by Saudagar General Store and delicious scents by Rituals added the finishing touch.
