Shin Tseng is an architectural designer and creative entrepreneur who enjoys revitalising urban spaces and heritage buildings. He and his partner Shin Chang transformed a Kuala Lumpur landmark, RexKL, into a vibrant cultural hub.

Shin values his time and avoids wasting it in traffic. He chooses projects and workspaces that are within a 15 to 20-minute radius of his home.

He is an optimist who sees the world in a positive light. “I embrace it when things don’t go according to plan,” he said. “You can view it as a risk, or you can view it as an opportunity.”

Interestingly, Shin has a clever way of managing his time and expanding his network: he deliberately schedules two meetings with different people simultaneously to achieve more and at the same time, connect them with each other.

Zare Lee is a chemical engineer with a passion for sustainability. He and his brother Tzong Lee launched Trapo Asia in 2016, a regional brand that offers eco-friendly automotive accessories. The company has expanded to Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.

Lee follows a fixed routine to manage his time effectively. He wakes up at 6.30 am every day and uses the morning hours to plan and strategise.

He admits that finding a balance between work and personal life is not easy, but he tries to make it work. “It’s all about prioritising what matters most. Sometimes I have to skip a family dinner for a crucial meeting, but I always compensate by spending quality time with them on the weekend,” he says.

For Mark Koh, the co-founder and CEO of artificial intelligence company Supa, previously known as Supahands, every win and milestone deserves a celebration, regardless of size.

He remembers how he and his team celebrated when they secured their series A funding round from Cradle Seed Ventures. “It was a huge achievement for us because it proved that we had successfully overcome the first stage of growth.”

Koh also believes that personal growth and work growth are not separate but intertwined. “I value work-life integration, and I see winning at work as winning at life,” he said. “I aim for a state of flow where work and personal life are balanced and enjoyable.”

Justin Chan, the founder and director of Metier Food, has a morning routine that involves working out alone. He describes it as a form of meditation with motion, which helps him stay focused and productive throughout the day.

Uncertainty and risk are inevitable in entrepreneurship. According to Chan, having a good support network is important. He considers himself lucky to have a supportive co-founder who is also his fiancée. She always backs him up and helps him through uncertain times.

“I am always aiming for the next goal. I want to challenge myself to grow,” Chan said. “Looking back, we have come a long way since the beginning of the company. We have accomplished so much and overcome multiple obstacles.”
